Came down this morning, in the middle of the kitchen floor was a Boots receipt, I have no idea where it has come from.
It's obviously mine, from the local Boots Chemist, just a few mundane articles on it.
What makes it a mystery? the date is....3/10/94.

Oh wow Syl, now that is a mystery, unless it was hidden then came to light 🤔

Mind you Syl, I lost a ring and looked everywhere for it but no good. Year later I was putting something in my set of drawers and hanging on a earring hook was the ring! We both looked many times, and it wasn't there before!

Did it fall out of a bag or pocket?
The oddest case of synchronicity that happened to me was going along to a jumble sale with my mum many years ago. I picked up a copy of Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories, which I'd had as a kid. Feeling all nostalgic I bought it. Got it home, opened it up, and on the inside of the cover (it was an old hardback book) was my mother's handwriting. "To (the nickname my mum used to call me) on her 6th Birthday, love mama xxx". We were both gobsmacked. I was in my mid thirties at the time. That book had been lost all those years ago and came back to me.

Socks.
Where do they go?
Is there a top secret underground resistance movement freeing them from the tyranny of their identical twins?

It couldn't have been hidden anywhere.
There is nothing in the kitchen that is older than 15 years, we even thought about could it have been inside the radiator and somehow fallen out and been blown into the middle of the floor...but the rads are nowhere near that old.

No bag or pocket I have is 28 years old...none that I ever use anyway.
That's a lovely story about your book, you were obviously meant to have it back.

Nope, I dont come in the back way.
It's a mystery why a mundane receipt, that I wouldn't have kept for a day, never mind 28 years....suddenly appearedon the kitchen floor overnight.
It's as weird as when the unused, still in a box radio, suddenly started playing one night.

Life's an enigma. Many things happen that can't be explained. That radio for one. I remember you telling us about it a few years ago. Spooky!

God knows what people see when they are tuned in to this sort of thing.
I am not, so loads of things could be happening around me and I wouldn't even notice.
I do remember years ago though, my good friend died unexpectedly in front of me.
A couple of nights later, the electric kettle turned itself on ...no one was in the room (the kitchen again)
It never happened again.

He could have found a more interesting decades old receipt then...this one had plasters, tissues and toothpaste (which only cost 65p back then) on it....very boring.

Could someone else have dropped it?
Another thing that happened to me was when we found out our old dog had a bad heart. I asked the vet how long he had left and she shrugged and said he could go anytime. I went home, locked myself in the bathroom and cried and cried. After about ten minutes of snuffling and feeling sorry for myself and asking the angels not to take my dog, I looked down at the floor and there was a single white feather right in the middle of it. He lived for another five years.
