"Smoking is set to be banned in pub beer gardens, outdoor restaurants and outside sports stadiums and hospitals as part of a fresh government crackdown.
According to The Sun, ministers have drawn up plans to go even further than the last Tory government in encouraging smokers to kick the habit.
If you're a pub landlord a bad one. If you're a smoker a bad one. If you don't smoke a good one.

I dont' smoke, and I hate eating near smokers, but pub gardens are usually big enough to accomodate everyone, so all in all, I think it's a bad idea.
Not sure how the average landlord could police that either.

Dumb idea.
Therefore it will be implemented.
I guess all of the serious problems have already been addressed in the UK, and they need to focus on the trivial..😉

Dictator Starker is banning smoking everywhere, disgusting. Pushed them into the open, now banning that. It's not a free country anymore.
I don't smoke, but I can't see the harm in them smoking outside, they had no choice.

Another feather in the cap for nanny state supporters.
There was obviously a need to ban smoking inside, second hand smoking is a real worry, especially for young and vulnerable. But if people want to smoke in their own homes, it's up to them.
If people want to smoke outside, even in hospital grounds, that should also be up to them.

I think pubs will suffer more again. Many have had shelters built for smokers, now they will be useless. Restaurants and cafes also. They are doing no harm to anyone.
How can they stop it tbh, will they police all streets?

The book/film Faranheight 451 comes to mind when governments try to take away citizens rights.
Remember a few years ago when neighbours were asked to spy on others to try to catch benefit scroungers out?
No one likes benefit scroungers, but asking people to dob their neighbours in is far worse imo.

It's almost three years since I stopped smoking 🚬 so the ban doesn't affect but it's getting to much like a Nanny State for my liking.
It will be booze and sugar next.
He's shaping up to be one of the worst Prime minister's ever and he's only been in office a few months.

It's gone to his head. He's a dictator, traitor and Bliar pulling his strings. Worse PM since Bliar. They are in it together.

I think he is far too weak to be a tyrant or a dictator....no matter how hard he is trying to appear strong and powerful.
He reminds me of a bully, and a bully is usually a coward surrounded by yes men.
Once the yes men have had enough, he will have nothing.

He will be ousted by his own party before Christmas imo.

The problem is, who is going to take over if he is?

I have no idea, but surely can't be worse than him!
Is this a good idea or a bad one?
"Smoking is set to be banned in pub beer gardens, outdoor restaurants and outside sports stadiums and hospitals as part of a fresh government crackdown.
According to The Sun, ministers have drawn up plans to go even further than the last Tory government in encouraging smokers to kick the habit.
Labour have already confirmed they will implement Rishi Sunak’s plan to introduce a phased smoking ban by making it illegal for anyone born after 2010 to legally buy tobacco products.
It has now emerged that the legislation introducing that change will also prohibit outdoor smoking in a range of settings."
