Merry Christmas Mags, to you, yours, and everyone who posts and reads here and enjoys doing so. x
I (for only the third time since we married 50 years ago) will not be cooking Christmas dinner....going to DIL's house again, and it'll be lovely.
Boxing day, it's just the two of us, so we will relax, then an on the 27th eight of us (family) are off to an Italian restaurant for the evening meal.
About 22 of us are going out for dinner on New Years Eve, then a party afterwards....but I may skip the party, leave the young ones to do that one.

I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm meeting two of my daughters and their family on the 27th.
The Houston tribe isn't coming up, so I'm probably driving down there at some point..

Spending it with my nearest and dearest.
Anyone seen this new trend of charging your visitors for their drinks and dinner?
Seems a bit stingy.
I can just see it, you've just finished your pudding and the host whips oot a calculator.
Prawn cocktail
Turkey and the trimmings
Two dods of cheese and crackers
Three glasses of prosecco.
That will be £75 oh and Happy Christmas!!
🙄

I can't understand anyone charging tbh.
I can see these meanies speeding Christmas alone with that attitude.

That maywell be, but (having looked up the word folderol, which I have never heard of) it doesn't seem to make sense in the context of which you have used it.

…glad to see you’re OK, Vic!
Out to a Christmas Eve party.
Christmas Day - home alone. Which I’m actually looking forward to. Candles lit, thoughts of those I love/have loved. Back-to-back naff Christmas movies. I might even eat some carbs!
Boxing Day - 6 friends round at mine for an open buffet thing, when I‘ll be serving some gourmandise folderols (at no charge)

At the risk of being overly picky, looks to me that she spelled it wrong too…

I am useless at wrapping presents. Give me a square box and I can still make it look like a crumpled mess...it's just a gift I have.
Last night, me and OH wrapped grandsons hamper, we make him one up every year, and every year it's the same palaver. But this year my aim was to reach higher.
So we decorated the box (which was a supermarket box that had contained fruit) the shop bought wicker baskets are never big enough, so we always cadge a strong cardboard box from somewhere. We managed this without too much drama, though it took time, a couple of Christmas paper rolls and much sellotape.
This year my aim was to place cellophane under the box, then bring it up and over, gather it together in a big fan, and tie it with thick gold ribbon.
By the time it was anywhere near my imagined image, we had run out of cellophane, even though I had bought 3 rolls, had to turn the heating off we were sweating that much, and were just about on speaking terms.
Next year I think I will go back to the original format of NOT trying to make it look like it was bought from Harrods.

Double sided craft tape is good for wrapping parcels Syl.
Put a few lengths the width of the box and it holds the paper in it in place when you turn the box over.
Then you don't have the hassle of it moving about when you gather it together to put the bow round.
Put awkward shaped items on at an angle, never straight on the paper.
I've been wrapping everyone's presents up for years.

When I wrap presents, sellotape always sticks to my fingers.
Also tape sticks down on the roll, then I have to try and prise it open again. 😤
