It's always been a rule first cousins can't marry or uncles can't marry nieces.
This is for all the.Muslims who marry their cousins, or uncles marry their nieces, you can't do that, it's disgusting!
Our country they should abide by our rules!
Mags, on a serious note. Why can't other faiths abide by their own culture and religion if they were born and working, paying tax in the UK, as long as they integrate a bit more in.society,?
I don't think any country dictates that Muslims can not follow their own faith many Muslims who are British born see themselves as just as British as you and I.
They want Islam here. This is not a Muslim country.
If you live in another country you abide by their rules. If we lived in Pakistan we wouldn't be be allowed to wave our flags or be a Christian, should work here aswell.
But Mags following a religion is not against our rules. It's the lack of integration people don't like.
As I said on the Lenny Henry thread the flags were not in people's Windows or being daubed all over roundabouts before the media began to relentlessly report unprecedented levels of immigration..The flags themselves are not a problem, it's the connotation they bring namely their association with self confessed racist skinheads who would fly the flag chanting "There ain't no black in the Union Jack. " I was shocked to learn this happened as recently as the 1970's. I can understand why POC feel threatened seeing this sudden display of flags everywhere especially when combined with the anti immigration stance coming from every media outlet.
I agree with Gary Neville that the flag is being used by some (not all) in an aggressive manner ,it is a symbol declaring that different ethnicities are not welcome here.
I'm surprised there wasn't more commentary about Neville 's views here.

First cousins can legally marry in the UK, you are right about uncles, and aunts, they are forbidden to marry nephews and nieces.
Even though first cousin marriage is legal here, it certainly isn't normal to marry within the family. Obviously, the way the demographic of the country is changing, new laws should be brought in. The NHS is under too much strain as it is without a multitude of genetic disorders added to their list.
If this article is about first cousins being permitted to marry ( although I didn't know that myself,) why are Muslims and other family members being discussed in relation to the article? Do Muslims approve of marrying Uncles and nieces?
First cousins feels a bit ick to me 😲
Syl, genuine question regarding the BIB. What is occurring besides first cousins marrying that makes you suspect a multitude of genetic disorders will flood the NHS?
Inbreeding puts children at risk of genetic abnormalities. There is loads of reliable info online.
The closer the bloodline, the bigger the risk.
I realise that Syl but do other religions practice inbreeding to the point you eluded to? I didn't know first cousins were permitted and didn't think they should be!
All I meant was if other ethnicities do practice inbreeding then obviously it must be stopped. I didn't realise Islam did this. I know they force young girls into marriages far too young in Afghanistan etc but I'm totally surprised at the info here relating to incest and Islam.
It's a cultural practice rather than a religious practice.
Inbreeding is common in middle eastern countries, parts of Africa and Asia. Though first cousin marriage is still permitted here, it's certainly not the norm so has never been a problem, now it is.

But if the UK allows first cousins to marry by law even citing it has some "benefits" then surely that is the fault of the law being in error, not the people who follow it.

I recall when we discussed the Burqa previously ,Digger wanted to see it banned in the UK but you and I believed if a Muslim lady wanted to adhere to the dress permitted by her religion she should be allowed to. Have you changed your mind or do you want to be more unforgiving in other ways not related to dress, like not allowing Islam in the UK? That doesn't sound like your usual stance but that is what you seem to be agreeing with.
I don't want to argue, it's just you have always maintained the point that you believe ladies should be able to wear the garments their religion dictates in the UK, as long as it's of her own free will.

The Burka has nothing to do with religion, it's men who make them wear them.
Here, why they do I've no idea, unless their men say.
They hate women and the women are subservient to them. Horrible thing. Shouldn't be allowed here. One country, can't remember now, think it's France, banned them. We should ban them too!

Fact check - some women wear it for religious reasons.

I think I stated that the enforced covering of women from head to toe which is in itself subjugation should be banned world wide. If you believe that's a choice, you're deluded. There's a psychological condition called a maladaptive subjugation schema.
Let's not fudge the issue. Covering a woman from head to toe is a male domination device just as Pharaonic circumcision is a surgical chastity belt. It's a device that controls, diminishes and is a symbol of possession by males of females. When a woman says she chooses to wear it, she does so because of lifetime conditioning and/or a slavish desire to please.

As with everything, people should look at the topic in hand and make their decision on that.
When it comes to women wearing a burqa in the UK, I think it's her choice to do so if she wishes, as long as she follows the guidelines of the country she is in. For eg, willing to take it off for security reasons and for certain occupations when a full face covering would hamper her work.
I don't agree with banning any religion. I do think we should crack down hard on the preachers who twist their religion to preach hatred, especially for the people and the country they are living in.
Islamic laws or religious teachings should never overtake our own laws. If people want to disregard the laws of the country who has oftentimes given them refuge, they should go back to their own country where they can practice their own acts freely.

Many probably won't reach that age, especially if they hate their jobs.
Ours is predicted to rise to 68 no earlier than 2037.
I think most will.
Unless they start killing them off when they get sick.
My point is that most western countries are broken by policies that are not financially responsible.
And the minute you try to address the problem you get accused of trying to starve grandma..

I don't believe being covered head to toe with a sheet is right either Digs neither is it stated in the religious doctrine.
However I don't think it is always the choice of the man I suspect it is in the majority of cases but I doubt it is in all.. When I attended uni in London many moons ago there were many ladies wearing it who must of lived in the area so there must be more now. . The Muslim ladies pursuing academia in the uni wore just headscarves and modest dress which I feel is far more appropriate. and practical for everyday life.
But what does it matter what I feel is appropriate?.It's not my religion and I just don't feel.I have the right to dictate what other women do. The Muslim ladies I did speak to were in no way being forced to do anything they wanted to wear the black headscarf.

I have visited Israel a couple of times, there are strict rules of dress code. If you want to visit certain sites, like the wailing wall, Jesus's birthplace etc you follow the rules....why should people not respect the culture of that country if it's for the good of all?
The vast majority do, when I was there I only saw one woman object, she was ejected, I actually felt like applauding.
Maybe the UK should be more unforgiving.
This is your classic manipulation game again, telling people what their opinions are and trying to pit posters against each other. I thought you had changed but I now see it’s the same old shit stirrer

Many probably won't reach that age, especially if they hate their jobs.
Ours is predicted to rise to 68 no earlier than 2037.
Agenda has been obvious from day one, fortunately the majority of posters here are more intelligent than given credit for.
The majority of posters here also appreciate Anons contributing to topics rather than constantly trying to demean certain members.
says it all…
I think most will.
I wouldn't even try!
