Whist there may be small pockets of Gaza with a thriving restaurant, surely the vast majority of people who lived there...well over 2 million, with an estimated 90% of those people being displaced, there can't be any doubt that most of the people have suffered hunger and homlessness.

I don’t doubt many are hungry / homeless, not being blasé but that’s typical for a war torn area.
Whether UNWRA, Israel or Hamas is to blame for the deliberate non distribution of the thousand of tonnes of food-aid is anyone’s guess. I do know Israel allowed the media in to film the piles upon piles of supplies sitting in the heat….Hamas, no media allowed…all three blaming the other for the non distribution.
It has been reported across the media, articles and videos, of armed Hamas thugs driving food-aid in trucks through Gaza…one or two videos I watched a while ago were Hamas thugs were showing off the spoils.
No cries of wealthy Gazans/Palestinians to cover the cost to ease that hunger but instead direct those cries on mainly Westerners.
Nothing is going to change until Hamas is disarmed/removed...
“President Trump responds to Hamas saying that they plan to violate the ceasefire agreement.
One Israeli hostage reckons Hamas are frightened re Trump so either they will lay down arms or we are looking at the Yanks going in.

This is a bit like an episode of Black Mirror. We all know that Israel has been bombing Gaza daily, and stopping aid following October 7th to the point President Trump ordered Israel to stop killing essentially "or else"
The media definitely supported Israel following October 7th which was a terrible terrorist attack by Hamas. But the media has no choice but to start supporting Gaza because Israel continued to.bomb , continued to kill, stopped aid getting through to innocent Palestine people. I am not the only person to call it genocide, far from it. Many broadcasters have, yes including my favourite James O Brien which will come as no surprise.
The whole of British Media have made it clear that Benjamin Netanyahu was the force of destruction that needed to stop killing. But here not only is genocide of Gaza being denied which Is possibly up for debate but it seems to be implied that Israel were not really in the wrong bombing relentlessly taking the lives of innocent peoole or that they were not doing it at all??.
In the video I provided which no one here has watched it showed by drone the total destruction of Gaza. And unlike Anon, I saw coverage from Channel 4 in a makeshift Gaza hospital where there were,I will put it very delicately, very injured children.
I'm not sure what the talk is about restaurants but is it being suggested here that innocent Gaza civilians was not being killed by Israeli bombs? Why then did Trump and all of Europe unite to stop Benjamin Netanyahu in his bloodthirsty quest? I'm just a bit confused tbh 🤔

Why aren't other, more deadly and destructive wars not called genocide?
What makes Gaza different than Syria or Yemen?

My reading of it is that a guest poster is claiming that because a restaurant might be open it follows that no-one's starving - make what you will of that bit of logic. (Tip - treat every day on social media and forums like it's April Fools day). The bit about genocide is that by definition it isn't that, the poster isn't claiming that people aren't being killed, just questioning your use of the term.
Not sure what the picture of bombing in Syria is there for, possibly an example of actual genocide, the poster gave no explanation.

Nobody is suggesting that Gaza civilians have not been bombed or killed. It's the one sided view being pushed that gets my goat. You know that Hamas have bombarded Israel with bombs for years? The fact that so few Israeli's have died in relation to the Palestinians is because of Israel's outstanding defence system. The fact that so many Palestinians have died is because they don't have such an efficient defence system.... because they are ruled by a regime of thick fanatical peasants. And now that Israeli soldiers have withdrawn from Gaza Hamas are now slaughtering their own. It's clear this is to send a message to any Palestinian thinking to usurp Hamas that the vile regime is not going quietly into the night.
You're smart enough to understand the politics of war, so don't pretend you're 'confused'.

In WW2, the rich ate in restaurants while the rest suffered a restricted diet on rations. That's a fact. I'm sure the same applies in Gaza. Don't forget that most of the Strip is untouched by bombs.

It seems to be forgotten that the Gaza Strip was under Egyptian military rule from 1949 to 1956 and again from 1957 to 1967. The Egyptian government did not consider the area part of Egypt and did not allow the refugees at that time to become Egyptian citizens or to migrate to Egypt or to other Arab countries where they might be integrated into the population.
Hamas have always refused to compromise with Israel and have always derailed any chance of peace.
In an effort to end the fighting back in 2005, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon withdrew Israeli soldiers and settlers from the Gaza Strip. This was at the expense of Israeli settlers who had spent years building a life in that area. But in an effort to obtain peace they had to make that sacrifice.
Sharon stated that “the end of Israeli control over and responsibility for the Gaza Strip allows the Palestinians, if they so wish, to develop their economy and build a peace-seeking society, which is developed, free, law-abiding, and transparent and which adheres to democratic principles.”
When Hamas took control of the Strip all that went to rat shit, and Israel immediately came under threat and had to protect their borders from sustained rocket attacks. It was Egypt who helped Israel set up a blockade of the territory, limiting both imports and exports as well as movement into and out of the Gaza Strip. Why do you think the Egyptians built a big fuck off wall on their borders if it didn't consider Hamas to be a threat?
In the spring of 2018 a series of protests along the border with Israel, which included attempts to cross the border and flying flaming kites, was met with a violent response from Israel. Both the protests and the violence reached a peak on May 14 when about 40,000 Gazans attended the protests. When many of them tried to cross the border at once, Israeli troops opened fire, killing about 60 people and wounding 2,700 others. That's not indiscriminate slaughter. Why would anyone allow a mass surge of angry people to cross their borders and threaten their safety? The violence escalated into military strikes from Israel and rocket fire from Hamas and continued for several months.
Yet in spite of this, after months of violence between Israel and Hamas in mid-2018, Israel began to ease restrictions on its blockade as a part of an effort to incentivize a more long-term cease-fire agreement between the two. In 2019 Israel allowed the flow of additional goods into and out of the territory, expanded the permitted fishing zone for Gazans to its largest extent in more than a decade, and began allowing thousands of Gazans to cross the border to work in Israel.
Then October 7th happened.

I don't think the ceasefire will hold much longer. There are too many stumbling blocks in Trump's 20 point plan. Already we've seen two examples - there's no way Hamas will be able to recover the remains of all the dead hostages, and no way will they voluntarily disarm, especially as there are anti-Hamas groups operating there.

Yes but this report says the opposite. Which should I believe? "The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) - which is currently assessing reconstruction needs in Gaza - says over 80% of all buildings in the territory are destroyed or damaged.
In Gaza City, the figure is 92%, it says.
A UNDP spokesman in Geneva describes the destruction as "devastating". The organisation estimates at least 55m tonnes of rubble needs to be cleared."

I have replied to Digger and Madders on the appropriate thread not to go off topic but I agree with you completely especially the BIB.
No.one is disregarding what happened on October 7th by admitting the truth of the awful prolonged bombing and starving of innocent Palestinian civilians. Benjamin Netanyahu had to be stopped, he was the aggressor , so many countries United to stop the atrocious killing because it WAS a genocide which has been confirmed on the Palestinian thread.
You may not agree with that Syl but thank you for bringing some much needed clarity to the thread because I was genuinely confused about the denial of fact, logic and empathy.

This is what happens in war. Those displaced are already returning. Let's hope they get the chance to rebuild their lives and have some peace. But with Hamas already seeking out people to execute in public I doubt that.
Gaza city is 45 km.
Of course all wars are horrendous and innocent people die, then, now and in the future...sadly that's the way of mankind.
The displaced are returning, but to what? No homes, no businesses, some to no family.
If it's your child, parent, sibling, that is injured, starved or dead, I dont think it matters whether it was 80 years ago in Auschwitz or last week in Gaza....the pain is still the same.
I find some of the comments in this thread regarding the Palestinians, heartless to be honest.
I found the second article in particular absolutely horrendous. Prison is not enough.
Re-read the initial post. Palestinians uploading and sharing their own videos and pics (subsequently shown on numerous various sources) are to be disbelieved?

Why aren't other, more deadly and destructive wars not called genocide?
What makes Gaza different than Syria or Yemen?
