"Pope Francis has died at the age of 88, the Vatican has announced.
The pontiff, who was Bishop of Rome and head of the Catholic Church, became pope in 2013 after his predecessor Benedict XVI resigned.
Francis had experienced a string of health worries in recent years and spent 38 days in hospital in February and March this year.
But he recovered enough to leave hospital and just yesterday was greeting crowds on Easter Sunday in St Peter's Square."

I thought he was on his way out, looked a dying man tbh.
Kept him propped up for Easter, then let him go.
At one stage I thought he was dead until he moved! Had a good innings though.

Word is, the Pope wanted to take a pass on giving Vance an audience. Vance reportedly threw several strops at the thought of losing his photo ops with the Pope, and was eventually allowed to meet him.
I imagine the Pope took one look at Shady Vance and thought: I‘ve been determined to live long enough to bestow one final Easter blessing on the world. But THIS degenerate standing in front of me is one duty too many….! Nope - I have no more blessings to give. I’m done with this mixed-up crazy fucked-up world. Arrivederci…👋🏻

Probably died of second hand embarrassment then.
As a (lapsed) Catholic I really shouldn't laugh but there you go.

I don't like him at all. Vance, that is. I get that vibe off him. Nasty piece of work.

Your instincts generally prove to be bang on.
Shady Vance is an odious opportunistic brat - and a pathological liar, just like his boss.

Harvey Weinstein rape retrial begins after original verdict overturned
“ He is being re-tried on charges of rape and sexual assault, for which he was found guilty and sentenced to 23 years in prison back in 2020. He has pleaded not guilty.”
Why the New York sentence was voidedpublished at 14:51

In short, the court voided Harvey Weinstein's first sentence because the appeals court deemed that he did not receive a fair trial.
The New York State Court of Appeals found the trial judge allowed testimony about sexual misconduct against Weinstein that wasn’t related to the charges at hand.
In the April 2024 ruling, the appeals court said that the trial "erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes".
Nothing to do with his innocence or guilt I just find him physically repulsive and the thought of him pawing away makes my flesh crawl..

Much of a muchness. Generally ugly blokes who if weren’t rich and powerful wouldn’t attract, or be able to silence, women. NO amount of money would entice me to be anywhere near either of them or their ilk.
Trump is physically hideous but Weinstein is off the scale for me. <shudders>

There will always be beautiful women who are happy to be trophy wives and girlfriends if it brings them money and prestige. There will always be ugly old sugar daddies who are happy to be used for the privilege of having a young and lovely girl on their arm.
Some people are happy to be used for the trade-off they get.
It was a beautiful funeral for a Pope with beautiful ideals. He said "build bridges not walls" whilst Trump is literally building walls to cause division. Seeing an imposter like Trump at Pope francis' funeral was so disheartening but the late Pope would want us to show him compassion. It is rather difficult for me to do that especially recalling when Vance insisted on meeting with the Pope. The Pope's eyes and body language showed his unease and distrust of the man. We could all learn so much from Pope Francis who loathed war and the dehumanising of refugees. A cardinal said how ironic it was seeing all the world leaders at the funeral out of duty who would doubtless ignore the message of peace the Pope held so dear. I didn't think I would get emotional but pope Francis was unlike the previous Pope's. His adage was "everyone is welcome", he believed inclusion was love. He even managed to promote two women which was too liberal for many within the Catholic church. May Pope Francis rest in peace.

I agree. It was very moving, and though I am not Catholic or religious and didn't follow his 'career', it's very clear he was an exceptional human being.

Whilst it’s a serious and noble cause I find this hilarious…

Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein's most prominent accusers, has died by suicide aged 41, her family has confirmed to the BBC.
They said in a statement on Friday that "the toll of abuse" became too heavy in a statement confirming her death.
"She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking," a statement from her family reads.
