So Maddog, what's the deal on gun ownership. How can you have the constitutional right to own a firearm But certain states can deny you that constitutional right?

They can't deny you the right to own one, unless you have committed a crime or are considered "defective" in some manner. . They can control where you possess it..
And of course any private party can tell you that firearms are not allowed on their property..
Take a state like NY. You can legally own a handgun. Take it out of your house and all sorts of laws start to kick in.

Isn't NY a gun free state though?
or is that just NYC?
where it's very hard to get a gun licence ?
So if it a constitutional right to own a gun how can a city ban you from having one or carrying it around the city. Yet the criminals don't seem to care about city limits

I meant to ask about carrying a gun from a gun state to a state like NY ? I seem to remember reading about the twin towers museum where some woman from like ohio had a gun on her and she was arrested for carrying it. Where I guess to her it was second nature to have it in her bag or on her hip?

It's hard to get a license to carry in NY..I think NYC has additional rules, but I don't live there so I'm not 100% sure..
To own a handgun, you just need to pass the federal background check and fill out the form that Hunter lied on..

Many statee have reciprocity rules about carrying..
I doubt NY does.
Best leave your guns at home if you go there, because I doubt you will ever be in compliance with their draconian rules.
I guess you could drive there with it in your trunk unloaded, and carry it into the place you were staying and leave it there. Unless that place was a hotel..

Odd that you see rules designed to protect life as being draconian.

Every time a government takes a right, they do it under the pretense of keeping people safe.
That's how tyrants rise to power. They convince people they are doing things for their own good, and folks buy into it.

I have learned there are some people whereby it is a waste of time to continue a discussion on certain subjects because they are refractory to the concept that they might be wrong and will twist and turn or just blatantly use ad hominems in response to reasoned objections to their thinking. You might resort to listing known facts or using quotations from relevant figures but all this will be dismissed. If you are interested in psychology or sociology one ends up studying their psychology and information sources but once diagnosed there seems to be nothing more to gain.
On the other hand maybe it's just you.
