The previous leader of Reform Nathan Gill has been jailed for ten years for accepting Russian bribes..imo he should serve the full term. Doubt he will though.
This was not just an MP, but the prior leader of our probable next Government accepting Russian bribes to the tune of forty grand..I wouldn't trust this corrupt party with my lunch let alone the country. If it had been Rishi Sunak or Ed Miliband this story would run and run. But in fairness neither former leader would do something this abhorrent.

Following an investigation by counter-terrorism police, officers said they believe Gill likely took a minimum of £40,000 in cash and was offering to introduce other British MEPs so they could be bribed. Officers also said they believed some individuals in this case had a direct link to Vladimir Putin.
Compared to some scamming politicians on the take, that must have been the equivalent to buying something out of a £1 clearance bin!

It's not only beautiful but the sentences in bold are something I think some solely focused on asylum seekers sometimes don't consider. Only but for the Grace of God it could be us needing help and making that perilous journey by sea to flee persecution.
No doubt some are chancers but far less than the right wing tabloids would have its readers believe. Most asylum seekers are genuine, about 90% of refugees are literally fleeing for their life and granted status. The problem is not that they are not genuine, but that we simply don't have the room. We are a small European island and can't take everyone. It's a shame com artists like Farage encouraged people to take control of our borders by signing away our rights to the Dublin Convention.
The new Labour legislation is akin to something Reform would dream up have indeed, it has Reform's approval.
Apparently the jewellery of asylum seekers will be taken from them(but not at the point of entry as if that makes any significant moral difference) ,presumably to hock to pay for bed and board? What's next, gold teeth? I hardly need to point out the Nazi parallels but I can only hope Labour are implementing such a harsh dehumanizing regime to stop people voting Reform . This is not left wing or even centrist politics.
And why are right wing governments (including the current one in power) so keen to kick out people who.have been working here for decades, propping up the NHS and caring sector? If that actually comes to fruition the country will know true hardship because these workers are vital. I agree with a lot of your post Fluffy.
Ordinary people have been divided, and that isn't good for any country. Yes, many refugees and asylum seekers are genuine, it's the contingent that are not that's the worry.
Add to that the hundreds of thousands that are coming here illegally, with no past to account for, especially when those hundreds of thousands of illegals are predominately young fit men, many with a totally different way of thinking to the ways of the country they are landing in, and people will, understandably not want them here. The do-gooders who wave the banners of WELCOME ALL....are deluded.
That has got to be sorted, and quickly before discontentment turns to uncontrolled violence, which it will given time.
People who are here genuinely seeking asylum should not be treated in the same way, they need help, and if we ever managed to send back the many who are pouring in illegally, we could help them a damn sight better.
People who are here legally, who have contributed for many years, especially in the NHS, not just propping it up, but ensuring it's still a protected organisation to help everyone here, should not be living under any cloud of deportation, they should have the same rights as British-born people.
I don't think you can compare the taking of jewellery to the Nazis. They took it all, including the gold teeth, from the dead, the dead they had tortured and killed IF. any government here took the valuables from immigrants coming in, it would be to pay for their bed, board, all services they would need to make their lives better.

I must confess I haven't offered to take in an asylum seeker in our one bedroom flat. Lovely coastal location, big as a broom cupboard.
However there are asylum seekers in my small town some sounding eastern European and some of evident Muslim descent. I obviously don't question them and ask where they have hailed from but have no problem with them.being here at all.
However there are a few homeless people too, one who refuses to take accommodation offered but the others should be housed imo. As my town is so small they are recognised and my partner gives them food if they are around. Obviously I think homeless people should be housed aswell as genuine asylum seekers.
I also think single men without documentation who don't say who they are should be turned down for asylum immediately. If we were still in.The EU we could send them straight back to Calais. I often wonder just howFarage thought we could control our borders more efficiently without possessing the Dublin Convention. It's almost as if he knew what would happen. Gove did too. That's why they vanished as soon as the result was announced.

What worries me is the proportion of the Reform electorate who are working class and allowing bigotry and ignorance to cloud their thinking. If they think Farage cares about the elderly , pensions, or the NHS they are in for a shock. They won't withdraw their choice to cut the winter fuel allowance,that's for sure.
If the elderly or those in poverty can't heat their homes and perish Farage will be glad they are gone and no longer a drain on the state. He only cares about maintaining and expanding the wealth of millionaires and billionaires like himself. There will be tax breaks a plenty for the Eton lot and to contrast zero hours contracts and food banks for the less well off. The middle classes will be squeezed too.
I can't stand this government, although I do understand they were left with nothing but a twenty billion pound debt to remedy. They aren't lefties though Mags, and haven't been since they came to power. Taxing wealth not income is the way forward, especially when the UK only used to accommodate 75 billionaires in this country,not 300. But Starmer hasn't the testicular fortitude to undertake such an overdue and vital course of action.

Nobody said they had "lots of money " either.so let's get that nipped in the bud..The women may have scant jewellery of sentimental value, I seriously doubt ladies fleeing certain death and torture from the Taliban will be draped in the finest jewels. Tbh I doubt Labour will take the meagre jewellery that they find as it won't be worth enough. The pledge is more likely an invention to satisfy the far right. Fluffs, the illegals in boats are all men, young fighting men if it came to.it. They are not running from anywhere, they've come through many countries to get to us. If they were genuine, they would settle in the first country they went to.

I am tired of fighting though as are many others, as it is inevitable Reform will be voted in and they will make this Labour legislation look like childsplay. I honestly fear Farage because a man that sends women back to the Taliban to.be r*ped and killed is a sociopath in suit and tinpot dictator. The media rhetoric and mentality of many has really changed in recent years due to the small boats crisis and I honestly do agree with the BIB. I don't want single men concealing their identity coming here in droves. Just because they are men doesn't mean they shouldn't be granted asylum but ones who won't give their name are either not fleeing persecution or have criminal records. I don't want them in the country either and can't think of anyone who would.
It's the divisive rhetoric, media manipulation and people who know each other turning on each other due to this issue I don't like. 95% of immigration is legal and workers that have been asked to come to the UK. They are not stealing jobs from British people , employers simply want to pay less and so the fault there lies with the employer who won't pay a living wage. Or there are job vacancies and we need people living abroad to fill them.
A significant proportion of viewers care more about the cost of living and childcare and everyday events than immigration and are fed up with hearing about it. I also understand that view. It's like certain facets of the media are obsessed.
The UK held so much power and respect before Brexit,now Trump can turn his back on our PM like he is part of the catering staff. Our economy is a disaster. I totally get the motivation of middle and upper class Reform voters even if I don't like it. But so many less well off Reform voters are xenophobic , care only about getting rid of people with different coloured skin and are thinking no further ahead than that. They are dragging us into dystopian law and order which will be akin to the States, free health care abolished, welfare for when people are injured abolished and the LAST thing I want is our politics system to be politically motivated by capitalism and class like the Americans but that's the road we are seemingly choosing .
The divide between the have and have nots is already so vast under 16 years of Tory incompetence..But Reform, are something else again. Many are conspiracy theorists and apart from the same few faces we see (the only competent media trained members they have) the rest are a rabble ,not skilled enough to be in parliament. There is no shame in that, I'm sure I wouldn't be an efficient MP. But thankfully I'm not offering to be one! It's not only beautiful but the sentences in bold are something I think some solely focused on asylum seekers sometimes don't consider. Only but for the Grace of God it could be us needing help and making that perilous journey by sea to flee persecution.
No doubt some are chancers but far less than the right wing tabloids would have its readers believe. Most asylum seekers are genuine, about 90% of refugees are literally fleeing for their life and granted status. The problem is not that they are not genuine, but that we simply don't have the room. We are a small European island and can't take everyone. It's a shame com artists like Farage encouraged people to take control of our borders by signing away our rights to the Dublin Convention.
The new Labour legislation is akin to something Reform would dream up have indeed, it has Reform's approval.

Ordinary people have been divided, and that isn't good for any country. Yes, many refugees and asylum seekers are genuine, it's the contingent that are not that's the worry.
Add to that the hundreds of thousands that are coming here illegally, with no past to account for, especially when those hundreds of thousands of illegals are predominately young fit men, many with a totally different way of thinking to the ways of the country they are landing in, and people will, understandably not want them here. The do-gooders who wave the banners of WELCOME ALL....are deluded.
That has got to be sorted, and quickly before discontentment turns to uncontrolled violence, which it will given time.
People who are here genuinely seeking asylum should not be treated in the same way, they need help, and if we ever managed to send back the many who are pouring in illegally, we could help them a damn sight better.

You are right of course, Rachel Reeves estate agent forgot to do something to the tune of £100 and that caused a far worse stink in the tabloids 
I must confess I haven't offered to take in an asylum seeker in our one bedroom flat. Lovely coastal location, big as a broom cupboard.
However there are asylum seekers in my small town some sounding eastern European and some of evident Muslim descent. I obviously don't question them and ask where they have hailed from but have no problem with them.being here at all.
However there are a few homeless people too, one who refuses to take accommodation offered but the others should be housed imo. As my town is so small they are recognised and my partner gives them food if they are around. Obviously I think homeless people should be housed aswell as genuine asylum seekers.
I also think single men without documentation who don't say who they are should be turned down for asylum immediately. If we were still in.The EU we could send them straight back to Calais. Nobody said they had "lots of money " either.so let's get that nipped in the bud..The women may have scant jewellery of sentimental value, I seriously doubt ladies fleeing certain death and torture from the Taliban will be draped in the finest jewels. I am tired of fighting though as are many others, as it is inevitable Reform will be voted in and they will make this Labour legislation look like childsplay. I honestly fear Farage because a man that sends women back to the Taliban to.be r*ped and killed is a sociopath in suit and tinpot dictator. He will have no moral scruples and we can save goodbye to the NHS.Such legislation would have caused chaos only a decade ago, now it's like (shrugs) "dead Muslim women. What can ya do?"
The media rhetoric and mentality of many has really changed in recent years due to the small boats crisis and I honestly do agree with the BIB. I don't want single men concealing their identity coming here in droves. Just because they are men doesn't mean they shouldn't be granted asylum but ones who won't give their name are either not fleeing persecution or have criminal records. I don't want them in the country either and can't think of anyone who would.
It's the divisive rhetoric, media manipulation and people who know each other turning on each other due to this issue I don't like. 95% of immigration is legal and workers that have been asked to come to the UK. They are not stealing jobs from British people , employers simply want to pay less and so the fault there lies with the employer who won't pay a living wage. Or there are job vacancies and we need people living abroad to fill them.
A significant proportion of viewers care more about the cost of living and childcare and everyday events than immigration and are fed up with hearing about it. I also understand that view. It's like certain facets of the media are obsessed.
The UK held so much power and respect before Brexit,now Trump can turn his back on our PM like he is part of the catering staff. Our economy is a disaster. I totally get the motivation of middle and upper class Reform voters even if I don't like it. But so many less well off Reform voters are xenophobic , care only about getting rid of people with different coloured skin and are thinking no further ahead than that. They are dragging us into dystopian law and order which will be akin to the States, free health care abolished, welfare for when people are injured abolished and the LAST thing I want is our politics system to be politically motivated by capitalism and class like the Americans but that's the road we are seemingly choosing .
The divide between the have and have nots is already so vast under 16 years of Tory incompetence..But Reform, are something else again. Many are conspiracy theorists and apart from the same few faces we see (the only competent media trained members they have) the rest are a rabble ,not skilled enough to be in parliament. There is no shame in that, I'm sure I wouldn't be an efficient MP. But thankfully I'm not offering to be one! It's a scary road ahead and as troubled and ANNOYED
as I am by the current government at least I know they have boundaries Reform simply do not.

There is no Sharia Law in the UK Mags, apart from maybe concerning divorce where a cleric sits in. But you mean the bloodthirsty type of Sharia Law and that honestly is not practiced here and Khan wouldn't have been.voted Mayor 3 times by white people aswell as those of other ethnicities if he was endorsing Sharia Law. I do get your concerns about Muslim men and I would be lying if I pretended otherwise.They view women and girls differently and act on their thinking. However when we discussed the ratio of races in the Reform thread I believe Digs said the overwhelming majority of folk in the UK are white. Muslim men are not going to overthrow us anytime soon.

Why not " working "men? If legislation allowed asylum seekers to work it would really help out out woeful economy, as it is I believe they have to wait a year before permitted to work. Why ?? Many asylum seekers are working any way cash in.hand as the pittance they receive isn't enough to sustain people and their families but it's not getting taxed and put back into the state.
I do agree that the Muslims , whether born here or not, do not integrate enough. I can see how you feel British culture is being eroded. There is definitely truth to that. But we used to be such a compassionate people , I think people have lost sight of how dehumanizing some of the media rhetoric is now.

Ok Sharia Law has been shown in London Fluffs, in some communities. I very.much doubt white Londoners ever voted in Khan. It was all.muslims, and many by posts umpteen times over. Also Khan won't answer to the questions of London grooming gangs which are predominately Muslim and been covered up. 9000 cases the.police are now looking.into.
London has changed, its.like.Pakistan in many areas, especially East London. The areas I was born and brought up in are unrecognizable, and I wouldn't walk there now.

Sharia law is not legal here, it doesn't mean to say it's not practiced.
The main problem is authorities seem to not investigate many cases where the law is broken. Obviously, the grooming gangs always spring to mind.

It's disgusting Syl. Young girls held down on a table and cut with razor knife or scissors by anyone who can do.it. Normally an old relative. No sedation, it's pitiful and breaks.my heart.
In Africa it is done, not.just to.muslims but Christians too. Young girls go out during summer hols, and then back in time to heal, or try to heal.
