This is an up-to-date report of the health both here and in the US. Maybe we are just more pessimistic, because studies show we are in fact healthier, and the NHS has a lot to do with that, than our American neighbours.
Syl, I typed out a researched reply to Maddog, sat back and realised it was Groundhog Day yet again so deleted it. When he won't or can't accept that even his own homegrown medics are proving how poor the US system is compared to the NHS.
I admire your tenacity though.
And I admire your ability not to get dragged back into an argument that has already been proven.

Kemi's response:
"Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch criticised the move, accusing the government of "silly gimmicks".
She told the BBC the plans were only being rolled out because "the government spent most of the summer watching Adolescence" - the Netflix drama that explored the impact of social media and influencers on teenage boys.
She instead called for more police officers, saying "we need to remove people from our country who shouldn't be here - especially those who come from cultures where women are treated as third class citizens. That would be a much smarter place to begin".
It's just another woke idiotic move by Labour. Who will decide what the defintion of mysogyny actually is. Then who is going to interpret that definition? Some purple haired harpy with a face full of metal? "You boy - off you go to your anti-mysogyny course"
Next up will probably be 6 year olds being sent on anti-racist of 'islamophobia' courses

"Approximately 38% of Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries are obese (BMI \(\ge \) 30), which is higher than the 29% rate among those with private insurance. Among Medicaid-enrolled adults specifically, the prevalence of overweight and obesity combined is over 70%, with 38% having obesity. Obesity rates are generally higher in Medicaid compared to private insurance, with beneficiaries being 27% more likely to have obesity."
The most obese Americans get free medical care.
Wonder why that is?

Here's a better question. Why are some many Americans covered by the government, or privately, still obese?
Doesn't healthcare cure obesity? 🤡

Bingo.
We don't exercise enough and we eat like shit.
It's cultural, not a lack of medical care.
Lets break it down even more.
White obesity = 32%
Black obesity = 42%
Asian obesity = 14%
We all live in the same country, yet there are large differences in obesity.
Let's look at the main topic of this thread. Cultural differences found in your new "Brits". All the laws, programs and cajoling in the world can't overcome those cultural differences. Culture matters.
When a Black American female believes 200 pounds is a healthy weight (and her friends agree), no amount of medical intervention will help, until it leads to health issues. By then it's often too late and we have another premature death pulling down our average life expectancy.
I had a whole thread about longevity, and you dissed most of it as nonsense.

it's about a change of mindset too and the fact that clothing companies now cater for the obese. 50 years ago, if you were a fat bastard, all you could buy was a bell tent dress to cover the lard. Inflammation can lead to arthritis. Inflammation is in part, down to lifestyle.
None of that is based on me, but the science behind these things.
That doesn't mean you can control all arthritis with diet and exercise, but that you can mitigate some of it's effects..

A pathetically short sentence for a murderer.
"A killer who fatally attacked a father in a Sainsbury's supermarket after a row over queue jumping has been jailed for just five years.
Demiesh Williams, 30, was today sentenced to five years and three months in prison following the death of Andrew Clark, who was hailed as a 'hard-working family man'.
The 43-year-old victim died from his injuries after Williams struck him with an open palm following an argument at a supermarket in Beckenham, south-east London - with chilling footage showing him strolling back into the store to carry out the assault.
Woolwich Crown Court heard Mr Clark had challenged the defendant when he tried to queue jump at the tills.
Bus driver Williams then left the shop and went to a car but, as seen on CCTV, decided to go back and confront Mr Clark.
The court was told the attacker then slapped his victim with an open hand, causing him to fall to the ground.
Mr Clark died three days later of his injuries, after being declared brain dead.
Williams later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was jailed this morning."
"He told the defendant: 'Demiesh Williams, for the manslaughter of Andrew Clark the sentence of the court is five years and three months.
'You will serve up o two thirds of that sentence in prison thereafter you will be released subject to licence conditions. If you breach your licence conditions you will be recalled to prison."
