He failed miserably in that regard however which does lead me to question if he had other motives he was focusing on instead, but I just don't know.Ā

He went after small ticket items like DEI programs and agencies he didn't like such as USAID which comes across more like petty grievances rather than any serious effort to tackle the deficit. Estimates of cuts fell from $2T to $1T and then $190bn and now it looks like he will be lucky to have achieved $9bn. He torched his reputation and value of Tesla in the process. He has no one to blame other than himself for that clown show.Ā
The US's fiscal path is unsustainable so they either accept big tax hikes and / or spending cuts to things like healthcare and social security or embrace insolvency head on.Ā
