It's an obvious attempt to save his own job. If Starmer resigned, McSweeney would have gone with him anyway, so McS was always going to be sacrificed one way or the other - I think he's hoping no one will notice and is treating the public like mugs.
A number 10 spokesperson denies Starmer is on the verge or resigning and says "He is getting on with the job of delivering change across the country," He's not wrong about that, but I don't think it's the kind of change they were hoping for.

The Scottish Labour leader said he should resign - the most high profile yet. As a result, Lammy, Cooper, Reeves, and Rayner (what a team!) have come and said they will give Starmer their 'full support'.
No one wants the PM job until after May when the local elections will be done and Starmer will 100% have to resign, so of course they are all backing him for now, but he's too dumb to realise what's going on.
Just saw Diane Abbott on TV - she was really shaking and twitching and close to tears - she cannot believe that Starmer appointed Mandelson who was 'best friends with a man who raped 14 year old children'

Ratcliffe has now made one of those 'sorry if I offended anyone' apologies, which isn't the same as apologising for what he said. Probably the sensible thing to do given his position of owning a football club with many immigrant members of staff. It's the word 'colonised' that seem to have caused the trouble, although the definition does fit in with what's happening here.
A far worse word imo is the one Starmer used. He says we are 'tolerant' as if it's a good thing. Tolerant means you put up with something that isn't good for you (or in this case, the country).
'Tolerant' is one of the wokies top buzzwords - but I don't think a lot of them know what it means. Why on earth would anyone want to tolerate us being overrun by asylum seekers and illegal immigrants?

He lives in tax haven Monaco, where he saves billions rather than staying here where he makes his money, so it's understandable that he has got so many backs up.
He is right in what he says about benefits, there are far too many people claiming instead of working, and he is right that parts of the UK , that in the last couple of decades some places have been colonized. I can go to areas not far from here and not see a white face...as I'm sure others can, though they are frightened to admit it.
