The only thing that keeps me sane, to a point, upon reading stuff like this is that they will, hopefully, get their just deserts in and/or outside of prison. People and the internet have long memories when it comes to mistreatment of kids.

“ A plus-sized rapper who describes herself as a BBW — aka “big beautiful woman” — is suing Lyft after one of the company’s drivers allegedly told her she was too large to ride in his car.
Dank Demoss, who has previously disclosed that she weighs nearly 489 lbs., claims the rejection unfolded earlier this month in Detroit when the Lyft driver rolled up in his Mercedes-Benz sedan and immediately locked his doors.
“I can fit in this car,” the rapper, who also goes by Dajua Blanding, could be heard saying in a video she posted on social media on Jan. 19.
Believe me, you can’t,” the driver shot back — adding later there was no room in the back and that his tires wouldn’t be able to handle the weight.
The driver, who identified himself as Ibrahim in the now-viral clip, was filmed apologizing to Demoss, but maintaining that he was canceling the ride and telling her she should order an XL vehicle.
“I’ve been in this situation before,” the driver said, before Demoss responded, “So every big person, you turn down because they can’t fit in your car?”
Demoss, who describes herself on Instagram as a “PAID PHAT QUEEN” and declared in one post last year that she weighed 554 pounds, slapped Lyft with the lawsuit this week. She later updated fans that she weighs 489 lbs.
“I’ve been in cars smaller than that,” she told FOX2 after the suit was filed. “I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings.”
Apparently she’s regarded as a protected class in Michigan due to her weight. Ive watched the video and the driver was polite but adamant. I would have given the same response as the driver. How in hell could she get in and out of the car and what about a seat belt, she could be a lethal weapon in the backseat if there was an accident and she gets dislodged.
How long before the UK follows suit due to the rising obesity problem we’re seeing…hurt feelings and all.

If it goes to court, I think the defence could surely be the seat belt, I don't think the driver mentioned that to her at the time, maybe he should have.
The lawyer said obesity was no reason to deny rides, it would be the discriminating the same as if you denied a Christian or a black person, but that's clearly ridiculous. They would be able to fasten a seat belt, and presumably his tyres could cope.

I don’t think rear passengers have to wear a seat belt in that State although I believe the law is changing in 2027 but I could be wrong on that…driver and passenger seat belts are required by law atm and of course for kids.
Regardless of the seat-belt law though if someone rear ended this vehicle at speed for example and somehow this woman’s body was dislodged (let’s face it we’re not talking about an average sized person who can freely move) that driver probably wouldn't stand a chance. Studies years ago call it “the backseat bullet”. She’s a liability whatever way you look at it.
comparing weight issues to denying black people etc is laughable, I thought it was initially satire. He looks and sounds like those OTT carpet salesmen from years back.
Tired of the “hurt feelings” bandwagon brigade.

I think you are right re seat belts...just checked.
In 31 states it is a law, not in Michigan if the passenger is above the age of 16.

It's not the law for back seats in many states.
Uber and Lyft require you to wear it. Not saying many drivers won't let you slide, but when you sign up for these services, you agree to follow their rules..

That's good. So if this woman did take this to court, the driver could indeed claim his personal safety would be at risk if the woman could not fit into a seat belt.

I wasn’t 100% when posting as I was trying to remember bits of conversations I’ve had with an American online pal who’s fascinated with life in the UK so our chats ranged from laws down to our choice of morning cuppa, the 2027 change I read elsewhere.
i wouldn’t travel in a car without a working seat belt (the law aside). I can’t understand people who claim ‘it’s only down the down road you’ll be okay’ - as if accidents only happen over a certain mileage. Madness.

He could just say she wasn't agreeing to the terms of the contract assuming she couldn't wear a seat belt.

Do you remember an ad that was on TV a few years ago. It showed, using dummies, the impact on a driver if someone in the back was not wearing a seat belt and the car crashed at average speed.
This woman should watch that ad, it was horrific.

Yes, I remember the crash car dummies ad*.That’s the impact I was referring to (badly) re the “back seat bullet”. Taken from an old article… “ The study found the odds of dying for belted drivers in head-on crashes more than doubles with an unbelted rear-seat passenger. Researchers measured a dramatic fourfold increase in force to the head and chest of the driver when passenger seated directly behind the driver was unbelted.” https://www.cbsnews.com/news/back-seat-bullet/
*I doubt people like her would take on board any safety warnings, all that concerns her is hurt feelings and a multi million $$$ lawsuit.
The power of adverts. I wish every person about to drink and then get behind the wheel would watch some of the Australian drink&drive ads, the Ozzies don’t hold back. This is a compilation which literally had me rolling tears when I first watched it, I had to remind myself it was an ad. It’s pretty brutal but I suppose to get the message across to the masses it had to be…

Just caught up with Trump’s press conference US re recent plane crash. Dear God…he’s blamed/blaming Obama, Biden, ATC and the chopper crew all BEFORE an official in-depth investigation gets underway. He must be on meds or something, he went through what sounded like a political speech, disjointed beyond words, all whilst recovery is still ongoing.
I can’t see his performance being of any comfort to anyone. Me, Myself, I.

I booked maw and paws holiday yesterday.
Mother wanted to go back to the hotel they had their honeymoon in.
They wanted £300 extra for a view of the castle, decided against that and booked a room with just a view of Auld Reekie.
Once the booking was complete we noticed there were 27 steps to get in.
Not possible, my mum has a problem with her spine and my dad has terrible arthritis.
So cancelled.
Finally found a nice place close to the city centre.

He's not doing himself any favors, but the blame game had already started well before that presser..He was reacting (over reacting) to being blamed for the crash because of his budget freeze.
It's going to be a long 4 years.
