Another hotel has just been declared solely for the use of asylum seekers in Oldham, near me.
Manchester has a bed for the night scheme for the existing homeless, but there are still many still on the streets. They should be our priority, and the asylum seekers who are here purely for economic reasons, shoud be turned round and sent right back from whence they came.

That car poppy I paid fiver for, I knew I was being conned. Went to another shop, told they're £3! Feel like standing where that greedy woman was and putting people off. How much goes in her pocket?

SKY.
After 20 odd years of having their full package, prices kept rising, no decent deals were offered so we left.
Six months later we got a letter saying we owed them money, and if it wasn't paid they would reduce our package...we had no package and had paid in full.
A month after, we had a letter from a Debt agency, purporting to be acting for Sky, demanding we pay (just put your cc details here and pay this odd amount) or further action would be taken...we ignored it, then yesterday another letter demanding the same, plus late payment fee.
I thought it was further spam, but called Sky to check....yes, they had said we were in arrears, and they had passed the debt to a debt agency.
After talking to an advisor for 10 minutes...(which we have to pay for) the lady said she would pass me on to the correct department. I asked if she could ring me back before she did this...she agreed.
The phone call then lasted for another ONE HOUR TWENTY MINUTES.....whilst different people spoke to different managers, before it was agreed, we did not owe any money, I managed to do my full weekend chores whilst they sorted their mess out.
Then...at the end of all this, they asked if I would be interested in going back to SKY.

I got an apology....but they refused to send a letter or an email confirming I owed them nothing. Just a call back next week to confirm that everything will have been sorted.
I am convinced SKY keep people on the phone as long as possible, they didn't know I had asked the first operator to call me back before she passed me on to the next department.
That call would have cost £20 plus had I been paying, and that was from a landline, mobile charges are more expensive.
Oddly, when I mentioned to the operator that I was glad they were paying for the call and not me....amazingly, the call very soon ended.

Customer service - most companies wouldn't recognise it if it bit them on their 'arris'.

The story below and the fact the government are spending £7 million a day on the economic migrants crossing the channel.
What about the British homeless on the streets?
Don't they count at all?
I would have loved to have been in a top hotel when I was freezing in a shop doorway.
Another hotel has just been declared solely for the use of asylum seekers in Oldham, near me.

I have been looking at some of the luxury hotels the economic migrants are staying in - one is a fucking massive castle!
It makes you sick.
Over 40,000 have crossed the channel this year already.
Phil.

The government have just agreed to pay the French authorities millions more to stop pointing the boats in this direction, or as they put it, to man the French ports better.
This will now cost us £60 million....probably a drop in the ocean (no pun) compared to what we fork out to feed/house/clothe/provide them with the luxuries many of the people bred and born here cant afford.

I read a story that some migrants in a five star hotel had complained that they only had a 32 inch HD tv and wanted a 50 inch one instead.
The sheer arrogance is astounding. :(

I dont believe everything I read...but they certainly get looked after a lot better than many people who are tax paying citizens, that's for sure.
My grandson is an apprentice, he has to go away every 6 weeks to Scotland on various courses. The hotels he is put in are horrible, and the food is inedible.
It's costing him a lot of money to buy food out of the hotel, obviously he won't be reimbursed for it....he is actually out of pocket every 6 weeks.

Some family friends went Australia as £10 poms. When they arrived they were put up in old barracks, many families in one building. The toilets and showers were in different buildings, so were the cooking facilities. Maybe some people moaned, the family though were only to happy to take what they were given as a base. The husband had to go into town every day to find a job, then once a job was found, about three weeks after arriving, next on the list was somewhere to rent to live in. They were not given any financial support at all and they were wanted in Australia.

People seem to have such a sense of self entitlement nowadays. I think our generation, and definitely the ones who have followed, have had it so easy compared to parents and grandparents. They went through 2 WW with less fuss than some people make if they leave home without their bloody mobile phones.

When a thing becomes your 'normal', then you can't appreciate anything else. To this day, I relish a hot scented bath because years ago that was a luxury as the bloody hot water used to run out after two or three inches and most baths were lukewarm or cool. Those of us who can remember that kind of hardship, no heating, no luxuries that are today just taken for granted as 'normal' can truly appreciate what we've got.
Also, migrants are fed a dream that doesn't exist. As the family of that poor kiddie who died from mould poisoning in their grotty council flat have found out.

Awaab Ishak, two, died in December 2020 from a respiratory condition caused by mould in the one-bedroom housing association flat where he lived with his parents Faisal Abdullah and Aisha Aminin in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
Mr Abdullah had previously complained to Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) about the mould, an inquest at Rochdale Coroner’s Court was told on Tuesday.
RBH’s chief executive Gareth Swarbrick was paid £170,000 for the financial year 2020/2021, according to the housing association’s report and financial statements for the year ending March 2022.
The document also shows that Mr Swarbrick’s pay then increased to £185,000 for 2021/2022 – the year after Awaab died."
