I was so happy when Trump got in, he did some good things for America.
Then he changed.
Wanting another Vegas in Gaza with a giant statue of him, reminiscent of Saddam Hussein!
The debacle around Zelensky was shameful. Insulting, bullying, and downright appalling treatment to The President of another country.
My opinion of him has changed completely now.
He only wants the minerals in Ukraine..

The mineral thing makes sense though in terms of it being a deterrent in that America will have a vested interest in Ukraine.
It would stop Putin, and Ukraine needs America. I don't think America can take all the minerals though.
The US would get half if the revenue from future mineral extraction. Current mines and wells are not included..
Ok. I wasn't sure.
Starme r now says we should lead on war in Ukraine. Is he dragging into this war?
Oh I hate Starmer!
I volunteer UK to lead..
We're broke and need to handle things closer to home..

Can anyone in the know more than I (everyone who posts I would assume!) explain why Trump is all chummy with Putin in the first place? He wants to make Gaza into a golden casino with statues of himself universally adored so he won't be happy with the EU countries promising to stick by the Ukraine come what may at the Ukraine sumitt in London today. I think Starmer has done well by bringing all the leaders together and seemed self assured on the world stage. As a result our potential trade deal with the USA is looking a tad wobbly..
Trump doesn't like Zelensky. He's also not fond of how we pay the bulk of the cost for NATO.
People say Trump likes Putin because they operate in a binary world. If you don't support Ukraine 100% you are labled a Putin supporter..
Remember, Hunter Biden worked for a Ukrainian oil company..Trump asked Zelensky for a "favor". That whole conversation led to Trumps impeachment hearings..
How do you figure you pay the bulk of the costs of NATO?

Speaking of Norway.......
"Norway is sitting on €1.7 trillion in the world's largest sovereign wealth fund, including an estimated €109 billion in war-related profits from increased gas prices in 2022 and 2023.
The Nordic country has so far spent €3.35 billion on support to Ukraine - an amount described on Thursday as "pathetic" and "reprehensible" by the editors of major Swedish and Danish newspapers, whose countries, according to the same data, have contributed €5.41 billion and €8.05 billion respectively."
And all this money sent from so many countries to the Ukraine, would not have been needed had Russia not invaded.

Obviously not, but the point is, Norway is engaging in performative politics. Send money and weapons and stop worrying about a mean man saying mean things..

Why do right whingers talk down to the people who were their allies yesterday.
People who allowed American bases all over the place to protect America from communist Russia.
America created a situation where it would cost them dollars and then blame everyone else!
Own it America and if you no longer want to carry on with you short term vision of long term realities... go.
Take your ball home.

Allies pay their fare share.
We have few allies in Europe. We have dependents..
Lol - what an upside world we live in. The left used to be anti-war and the right used to be anti-Soviet.
Anyone who thinks that Putin will stop at Ukraine has lost touch with reality. Let's hope he doesn't start taking a particular interest with the Bering Strait and Little Diomede. Trump might think there is a nice big ocean between Europe and the US. He's right on that score. Between Russia and the US? Not so much.

A properly equipped and trained European army would stop Putin in his tracks..
It doesn't matter what Putin wants. It matters what Europe does..

I don't think we / Europe have any choice really. The world has changed and we have to adapt to that, and take care of our own defence.

Trump has now paused all military aid to Ukraine.
Only tonight he stated he wants to stop young men being killed, yet he has now stopped helping the very young men who's country has been invaded.
