Hope you’ll still find time to pop in here from time to time too, Avon. Otherwise, I’ll have to stop dumpster-diving through X for you 😂
As for me, nope The modding there is way too volatile and unpredictable. From the persona known as the persona known as the persona known as the persona known as the persona known as the persona known as Stooo and on down the admin food chain - they're a bunch of irrational knuckleheads.
I'll still be around and I thank you for your valuable dumpster diving service! Lord knows I'm not going to do it.
Totally understand that you won't be back. I guess our experiences of Dogs was very different.
Ya think?! 😂
I’m convinced your gender worked in your favour over there, too
Were you hounded by other women for having different views or a different lifestyle from theirs?
🤔 hmm…interesting question. Probably the former, rather than the latter. My lifestyle would sometimes come up, but rarely instigated by me.
It was the constant neurotic irrational mod baiting that became too OTT. Plus an avalanche of approved ‘Guest‘ posts that would suddenly appear as if by magic around my posts, to stick the boot in.
I remember my perma ban happening just as COVID was upending the world (and I was stuck away from home for months). I remember thinking at the time “Way to go with the spiteful timing, mods!” 🙄
Anyway, all that BS is in the distant past. I’ve been posting here for 5 and a half years, minus any grief aimed at me or by me. What does that tell you? 😉
I think as more and more people stopped posting the two mods eventually turned on each other, that might have helped finish the place off. If stoo is re-opening, he'll either have to run it himself or find less spiteful moderators.

Vam you are an eloquent intelligent poster which I would never of known before. But the past is long gone now. The problem with Dogs is they had feuds and couldn't move on no matter what. So eventually everybody left. No one wants to post in a toxic atmosphere.

Hobbit was the mod that just kept giving. It's one thing to take a firm and/or guiding hand with moderation and another to patronise and punish members with those silly temporary bans. She and shitface wielded mini mbans like a school bully with a milk monitor's badge. Says more about their psychology than they ever realised. You either ban someone because they behave like a twat or give them warnings if they infringe forum rules. Putting people on your naughty step every five minutes because it feels like autonomy is pathetic.
As for guest posting on Dogs, we all know who did the majority of that.

Thanks, that’s kind of you to say. Guests like you (& the other Anony up there) were very thin on the ground whenever I used to Dogs post, that’s for sure! 😂
Hobbit eventually unbanned me years later. BFD 🙄 I could never be tempted to post there again. I only used to still read it because the Maddog vs Cactus Jack clashes were often worth a laugh.
That said, it wasn’t all hassle and grief. I’d love to see the folks I always used to have a laugh with posting here. Social media is vast and the choices are endless, but sometimes it’s kinda nice to post on a smaller more intimate platform among people I’ve posted around for several years.

I think the fact that he isn’t and wasn’t a volatile and unpredictable arsehole would probably explain it better sweetcheeks
Top tip: the value of your shite post is greatly diminished by the fact that it doesn't include a recognisable username.
I mean, it would still be a shite post, but adding a username would upgrade it to Clearance Bin level. HTH 😜

Do you remember our spats? (Fantasy Gal) We...a bit like Digger and me from years gone by, certainly didn't hold back with the insults.
It was fun for a while...till it wasn't. It's far better to log into a forum and talk sense than to log into a forum knowing you are going to be trading insults with a random stranger.
We all know a forum is only as good as the owner and moderation. If nastiness is encouraged, it eventually goes bad. Thankfully here we don't thrive on nastiness, and bullies don't like that, maybe, if they are still around they will gravitate back to Dogs, who knows?

Yeah, I do - the catalyst for me was ‘Curtains & Kayaks’. Then it got too same-same and pointless. I’m glad we’ve moved on waaaaay past it all, and I’ll always appreciate you and Diggs letting me start posting here 5 years ago.
Btw, it’s hard to imagine that you and Diggs were also daggers-drawn back in the day!
This is a great little place to post….away from the frenetic - often batshit - pace of most massive social media platforms.

I much prefer smaller forums / communities than big SM platforms myself. I read stuff on Twitter but have never felt the urge to post. It's more like attention seeking than having an actual discussion.
Much nicer vibe in a place like this.

If he wants his site to take off again he'll have to put some effort in to make it grow. Unless he's carrying out some kind of major redesign behind the scenes and getting ready to press the button for a big relaunch.

I’ll admit to occasionally checking it out to see whether Maddog v the obsessive Cactus Jack are back at it again.
I swear I often used to feel like a looky-loo gawping at a train wreck I simply couldn’t take my eyes off.
I miss that!

Were you on Dogs 15 years ago? Dear God it was hilariously funny at times but also a nasty clusterfuck of a place if you didn't fit in. The women were the worst sometimes. Horse face's massive mistake was banning all his good posters. The forum just devolved into a version of Bitchfest.

Nope, around 10 years ago - a little after my husband died.
For at least the first 3 years, it was cool. Other than chickenshit anon randos occasionally posting their toxic shite, everyone else was generally ok.
Then the clusterfuck merchants started turning their attention onto me, followed by a couple of the mods… and….well, you can guess how that evolved. You’d seen it all before 😉

I never joined, i used to just read, laugh and move on until I noticed certain posters trying to re-write history. Receipts were produced from elsewhere and the hilarious screams of victimhood reigned down.
It was entertaining until, like you said, the good posters were banned.
