Charlie Hebdo bravely publishing those cartoons again.
We were were the only country in Europe too gutless to show them last time in case it caused 'offense' to those of the youngest Abrahamic religion here.
Not seen SKY but the BBC (of course) has not dared to show them today and I expect all the others in the media will be the same.
Personally people being slaughtered for free speech offends me slightly more than a few bloody caricatures of a murderous warlord who probably did not even exist and even if he did has been dust for 1400 years.

Titania McGrath has written a new book, her first book was the most amusing 'Woke' which ripped the pish out the Woke Brigade.
Here's a few of extracts from the new book.

Why do you want the BBC to publish them?
In fact, why do you want anyone to publish them?

Free speech simple as that - one group/religion should not be above criticism, especially due to the threat of violence.
It's not rocket science is it?

Unless it's Judaism/Jews/Israel
Comments sections 'moderated in advance', no reports whatsoever about Netanyahu trial and claims of anti Semitism if anybody does criticise anything to do with them. How is that upholding your 'free speech' theory?
But that doesn't really explain why you want them published. Why so interested in seeing them published JD?

I'm not I can see cartoons like them anytime on the net - it's the hypocrisy and cowardice of the British authorities that annoys me, especially when it happened going on about free speech and yet being the only nation too gutless to publish them in protest at the massacre.

Free speech then as long as it's acceptable to you?
I know posts that contain no profanity and no trolling don't reach the board so you decide what is published, just as the BBC and others are free to decide what is and isn't published.
Free speech is actually the ability to say things without the government/authorities arresting you or punishing you. It isn't freedom to abuse someone or some group.

There is no such thing as complete freedom of speech, we do have libel laws in this country.
So far you have had freedom of speech in here, but you are starting to contradict yourself in your eagerness to score a point.....so it wont last.

Free speech isn't the same as the freedom to say what you want on someone's forum. Free speech means the government won't prosecute you for what you say.
Edit.....
I guess I should have read the posts better.
What I said has already been covered. Carry on.

Facebook bans blackface and anti-Semitic stereotypes in hate speech update
or images suggesting that Jewish people control the world or major institutions.
But Jews are the most prominent religiouis group in world banking .... why can't people say that?
If people think the Jews are controlling American foriegn policy why can't they say it?
The Jewish people it seems to me want .... want to be the forever victimised people so therefore forever protected people .... why can't other people be this protected in a free world?
Because it would grind to a halt ..... al discussion and opinion that is would grind to a halt.
You already are dictated to about what you can think about minority groups .... if you can't say it then it's not right to think it .... I don't think people realise where all this is leading.
Equal rights for AI soon because they can't form an independant point of view or be wrong ..... so why should you be afforded such luxury?
OK it might be a bit over the top but it's where you are willingly heading.

I couldn't care less whether they are published again or not, here or anywhere else, they dont bother me, but I am not Muslim so why would they?
If I was religious I may find derogatory cartoons about Jesus or the bible offensive, but I would respect a persons right to publish them if they were within the law of the land.

Every member on this forum gets free speech. Every guest posts here at the whim of admin. So, people either join here if they want to be able to have their say, or they suck it up behind their proxy.
Perhaps if we charged people an annual licence fee like the BBC, we might feel differently. But seeing as it's me paying for this forum, Syl and I decide who can and cannot post.
