Seems there's a definite link between deficiency in Vit. D and dying of COVID. Which explains why so many ethnic people are dying of it.

That would make a lot of sense, interesting.

It’s surprising how many people are deficient in vit D, and don’t even know it.... from a routine blood test some years back it was noted that I was.... so was prescribed Fultium D3 for 3 months!

Get some fish oil down your neck. That's the highest source.

That's why my mantra from the get go has been go outside and play.
Folks with more melanin produce less vitamin D and need to be outside more. Same as pasty people who wear heavy SPF blockers.
Of course skin cancer is real too.

I can very easily predict this all now. It's not difficult.
Some people will say great idea, good move. Others will moan to high heaven about it. :D
It's already starting to happen. Well some were moaning ever before changes were announced. Once they heard what might be coming.
This has become more and more like Brexit. You have the further restrictions needed right now brigade which is is quite a large group of people including Vallance and Witty wanting this apparently. And then you have the anti lockdown/s brigade also quite large. Including many an "expert".

143 deaths here yesterday, I predicted over a 100 a day this week in another thread, we could be looking at 200 a day by next week sadly (if not more) if it continues to gather pace again.
Yet still there are people who will totally ignore the rules, forget about fines - the government should now be looking at prison time for those who organise illegal parties and raves.

The Covid crisis will blow a £21trillion hole in the world economy and inflict 'lasting damage' on living standards, the International Monetary Fund has warned.
After the total death toll from the pandemic climbed above a million victims, the Washington-based watchdog yesterday spelled out the devastating global impact of the virus on the economy.
In its latest World Economic Outlook, the IMF predicted the crisis would leave financial scars for years while the recovery would be 'long, uneven and uncertain'.
Perhaps that won't be an entirely bad thing. Way too much emphasis in this world right now is money, the making of it, spending of it and a financial divide that yawns wider each year. We have people living on the streets when footballers get paid triple figures per week. I think the amount celebrities get paid is obscene. Going back to more basic living might do us all good.

Except that leads to death and starvation in poorer countries.
That's why the WHO is telling leaders to stop the lockdowns. They will end up killing more people than the virus.

But the people who will suffer most are the ones with little to begin with.

Same here. I had a test and was deficient so was prescribed D3. I just get it from Boots now.

As others have said, it's the ones with little to start with who will suffer, but I do agree with you generally. It's good to think of some things as luxuries rather than take them for granted, then you appreciate them more. Goodness knows what footballers do with all that money but it's all so unnecessary IMO. I think if someone earns huge amounts they just spend it for the sake of it. Who needs an enormous house with a gazillion bedrooms?

Hi Maddog!
I totally agree with you. I'm a bit "pasty" myself, so I tend not to sit in the sun much, and I use SPF. In the UK we have heatwaves every year these days, but that just makes a lot of people stay in the shade or stay in.
When I was young there was a big thing about using sunscreen and the advice was to put it on before you go outside in the sun. Now, the advice seems to be that you should get some rays on your skin for at least a while before you put sunscreen on in order to get some Vitamin D.
People with dark skin should be particularly careful that they get enough Vitamin D for the reason you gave.

I think the Vit D thing is very relevant, and would explain why BAME people seem to suffer more from Covid.
