Trump is now telling Russia to get in line. I didn't think for one moment that it was a simple as pandering to Putin. He's got summat up his sleeve and some long game. I wonder how it'll pan out?
I don't believe he is pandering to Putin, I do think he is happy to share the riches of the land that Russia have taken from Ukraine.
I think he is as capable of stabbing Putin in the back as he is of stabbing Zelenskyy...or any other countries leaders if it advances his own world standing.
I really think he has his own plan and playing one against the other.

So we have an American leader that wants some reimbursement for the American taxpayers?
We did the same to you, and you repaid all that money we uses to help you fight the Nazis.
This mineral deal doesn't enrich Trump.
YWould you be mad at a mineral deal the UK struck with Afghanistan to repay what you have sunk into paying for their refugees in your country?

Is not Zelenskyy willng to reimburse the US by allowing them to dig for rare minerals and whatever else is there in parts of the Ukraine?

That's the plan that is supposed to be signed.
And had Trump and Vance not made a spectacle of themselves and thrown their little hissy fits, it could have already been signed.
The next problem is, can the US be trusted with him at the helm?
Nah. I just watched. I wouldn't even know what to say to that.

Possibly. But while their behavior should have been in private, part of the problem was Zelensky not agreeing to their terms. That's why it all blew up.

Maddog, they didn't actually state their terms, they were too busy talking down to him and demanding thanks.
Hopefully, maybe without an audience of selected arseholes, they will be able to come to some agreement quickly.

There were discussions prior to the that blow up. Members of congress sat down and "coached; Z before they went to the live portion. He went off script and Trump and Vance attacked him. I'm not defending the way they reacted to Z, but I understand why they pushed back.
And I understand Z's situation. He's trying to save his country and he's basically having to resort to groveling to us. It has to suck for him. It's not like he can count on Europe. At least not yet. However, there does seem to be a great awakening in Europe to how weak and dependent they are.
I read an article a few days ago how the German Army did exercises with NATO a few years ago. The soldiers carried wooden sticks because there wasn't funding for real weapons. You're not a real member of NATO, nor are you a deterrent, if your military is training with sticks.

“ A pro-Palestine group has vandalised parts of Donald Trump's Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.
Palestine Action posted photographs on social media showing red paint daubed across one of the buildings at the Ayrshire course.
The words "Gaza is not for sale" are sprayed across one green and another green appears to have been dug up. “

Why would Trump be worried about crossing Putin? Do you think Putin would have him killed?.
Bomb one of his golf clubs?.

He could have some poor misguided nutter climb on a roof, climb down to get his ammunition, climb up again and commando crawl along the roof, all in front of a crowd of people, police who have been alerted, and Trumps own security, then take a potshot at his head and just nick his ear (allegedly)
Or has that already been done?

That's how the Russians acted here in London almost 50 years ago...it sounds like something out of a science fiction spy novel even today.

I guess the answer to that depends on whether or not you believe trump’s Russia/Russian mob connection goes back decades. I do believe it.
But don’t just take my word for it. Maybe check out the vastly experienced and knowledgeable Dr. Fiona Hill’s interviews and books on the subject. She was in trump’s National Security Council, as Senior Director for European and Russian Affairs. An impressive, down to earth, VERY plain speaking northern lady, who ended up testifying against trump at his (first) impeachment.
It’s one thing to effectively tell Zelenskyy ‘OK bud, YOU’RE the dictator and YOU started this war. You refuse to resign or hold an election. And you’re not THANKFUL or grovelling at my feet enough. So we’re done. Let Europe pick up the slack. Because, ocean…..’
But it’s a whole OTHER thing, to then immediately order a ‘pause’ in critical intelligence sharing with Ukraine, and also hindering the satellite imagery that enables Ukraine to detect incoming missile attacks. The unfettered bombing has been raining down on Ukrainian civilian targets ever since.
My question to you is, why would 47 now be actively assisting Putin in his efforts to kill more Ukrainians?

If Trump actually had mob connections going back decades in Russia, why wouldn't Putin fear the man with the largest military on the planet at his disposal?
As for why he is throwing Z under the bus? He wants the war to end so he can claim credit.
