This is probably my second favourite song after Woman 's Work. It's eerie but catchy like a lot of Kate 's songs. I suppose she fits into the "pop" category but her music seems more sophisticated than that.
Digs, I know you are a fan of her music. Would you mind saying what your favourite track by Kate Bush is?

Still one of my favourite songs and performers, I find his voice incredible.
I can't believe this is 41 years old...I remember dancing to this in discos.
OMG Anon, I agree and this video was so important for its time..it's a great dance track which often gets sampled but the original can never be bettered.
Although it's evidently a dance hit I find the synth has quite a haunting quality especially combined with the narrative Somersville is singing about. "The love that you need can never be found at home"
Thank God times have changed. Exceptional song.

Hard put to say a favourite. Jig of Life - because the lyrics are so clever and tell a story. It's her confronting her older self, who tells her if you die I won't exist. I think that's what I love about a lot of her songs, they tell a story.
Jig of life is from the concept B side of Hounds of Love called the Ninth Wave where a woman goes into the water and is drowning so she is shown her life, or remembers her life and past lives. It's a really interesting thing to listen to, her journey through near death and then back into the light. Her music has changed over the years which is why it endures. All the great artists can do that. Bowie did it.
Also, I got to see her live in 2014 at Hammersmith Odeon. She sang the beautiful Among Angels absolutely pitch perfect, just her and the piano.

I loved this ! It will require more than two listens granted but yes her lyrics are very clever. I often wondered how people could enjoy Wuthering heights not understanding a word. It's a deceased Cathy trying to drag former lover Heathcliff into limbo (as I know you know) She wrote that and Man with the Child in his Eyes , which has a beautiful melody, when she was just a teenager. She also looked incredibly beautiful in that video.
She had maturity and insight well beyond her years and imo was a musical genius. I'm rather jealous you saw her live, I must say. It must have been an amazing experience!
I love your avi btw.

Some music never dates.
Unusually for a male singer, he sang some great riffs in there.

Even more unusual now, unless you listen to opera I guess.
I'm not even a fan of great vocalists per se, but watching those ladies melt was pretty impressive. Gave me new found respect for that song that I've heard a bazillion times.

Yeah, the same pack of ladies watched that one and melted too.
Think about women under 40. None can probably name anyone that is truly a great vocalist..
Or maybe they are out there and I'm out if the loop?🤷
Would you call the Righteous Brothers "crooners"? I think we have very little resembling that in the US except for a few folks on the fringe of country..

Andy Williams was a crooner, more easy listening.
You stopped what you were doing and listened when the Righteous brothers sang, and good music doesn't date.
Today I think Bruno Mars has a great voice....can't think of any other males.

Raul can sing. I had forgotten about him until I saw he had to cancel his tour because cancer is kicking his ass.
He can sing the phone book in Spanish or English..

I dont know him, he has a beautiful voice, probably can sing opera too.
We had a contest here years ago,'From pop star to opera star'. It was interesting how good some of the pop stars could adapt. Darius, a has been talent contest winner who has since died, was absolutely brilliant.

My first crush from watching my Dad's old VHS videos. This is one of his more sensual songs.
