Sadly Henri lied and was talking utter bollocks in the novel - thus the film is such as well - the brutal conditions and punishments were correct but he did not go through them to the extent he said and his actions were those of other people.
Not surprising really - few murderers in real life are heroic figures outside of Hollywood blockbusters.

Oh well, I read the book first, expected the film to be a disappointment, but I loved it.
A bit of artistic licence (or lying) sometimes a great film makes.

Of course - the conditions were 100% accurate - the poor buggers who went through the dreaded 5 year solitary punishment in those small cells don't bear thinking about.

I'm liking that SSGB on netflix. Missed it first time on BBC.
Those what if the nazis had won scenarios are always fascinating.

Catching up with the final series of Homeland atm.
No matter how bloody annoying Carrie can be (and she can be really irritating at times) to me the real beauty of the series has always been all the other excellent supporting characters and also that the other countries leaders (even the Taliban) and Intelligence services are portrayed so very well, in depth and from a non US perspective which Saul often understands.
There is no black and white - only shades of grey.
Highly intelligent writing all round.
Oh and any series with the legendary 'Inigo Montoya' in it is always well worth watching!

This crime-noir film was fantastic but has somehow been totally forgotten - the ensemble cast of character actors were all absolutely superb but Chris Lloyd stole it from them all - this scene was so utterly heartbreaking but I will put it in spoilers for those who have not watched it before (and there will be many), give the full movie a go, it's excellent.

I watched the series first and then the movie - the full first series is on I-Player Digs, in one episode the cast of the film do a cameo along with other screen vampires.
If you loved the film you will adore the series as well made by the same people - it's brilliant.

Watch the TV series. It's very good.
I'll give it a go. I bet it's not the same cast though.
It's not but as I said above they have a cameo in one episode and all the actors are superb in the series.
Here is the link again in case you missed the above post.

I have recorded several horrors to watch that I have not seen before.

A Quiet Place, Thelma, The Visit and Get Out - I hope a few are a decent watch (the last is apparently excellent).
Ghost Stories was a cracking British film I viewed the other night - based on a long running stage play and well worth a look.

Season 7 of Catfish on Prime
New Amsterdam season 2 on Prime
Greys Anatomy: Now on season 9
Van Helsing, all seasons on Netflix.
Also on Netflix, Community, a very good comedy series, and Schitts Creek, FAF!
Why?
That started off funny, ended up quite disturbing.
It's the look on her face! Seems to be some kind of performance. The oddest thing I've seen in ages.
