I believe the experts when they say that the way the virus is being controlled is because people are staying home, not mixing with other households, so older and more vulnerable people are self isolating, and the ones who are out and about, either because they are working or exercising are practicing social distancing.
In more built up areas like London, Manchester and Birmingham, the virus spread quicker because people were on top of each other, when the rules were brought in, gradually the numbers were reduced, and now we see a real downward trend.
People are suffering, but they are staying in, keeping away from friends and family, living a bloody awful life for the sake of society.
So....the self entitled twits who are acting like all these measures don't apply to them, ARE bloody selfish.
Still quiet as fuck around here. Even on our beaches.
Southend beach was looking full because London folk probably fancied some Sunbathing time on the Beach. I guess hopefully due to the fact that they have the lowest R rate in the Country they might be lucky and it may not end up spreading like wild fire again.
In some areas clearly it spread extremely quickly due to terribly high population density numbers. You've seen the figures for this Country over on the main forum, and comparisons to elsewhere in the World.

The "experts" aren't even in agreement.
It's why there are so many different reactions by different governments all over the world.
The science is still pretty fluid.
None of which are more moral than the others, inspite of what the politicians are telling you.
That's why so many individuals think what they are doing is right.
It's why what I did last night was perfectly legal where I live, yet would get me called all sorts of names if I did it in the UK.
Its the same disease everywhere.
Too many people have got drawn into playing Politics, too many Political games are now occurring. It has become worse over recent weeks.
Even the experts get drawn into it I believe. Obviously like anything else you'll have left wing and right wing Scientists. People need to get more back on track concentrating on the pandemic and fighting the virus as a collective instead of squabbling with each other claiming they on their side of the fence knows best!

It's all politics now. At least for too many people.
Wash your hands, keep some distance from people and stay away from the vulnerable.
We really all know these things and that's where we are now, until the scientists can come up with a cure or a vaccine.
We flattened the curve. Time to get on with life and stop using fear to manipulate and shame folks.
Be nice to each other.

The scientists are in agreement about how the virus spreads.
Most countries have followed lockdown and social distancing to curb the spread.
Sweden, the exception are now seeing cases rise when other countries are seeing cases fallpng.
If you are following your states directions why should anyone call you names?
It may be the same disease but other factors, for eg how many infections, how many deaths, population size etc, etc, all come into play re how the disease is managed.

Because people don't like the politicians making the rules.
I'm supposed to follow what the virtue signalers feel is the proper procedure.

Politicians are taking their advice from the scientists...at least our lot are.
There is a huge difference between living in a nanny state and listening/following government advice which actually makes sense.
It's the people who are deliberately ignoring the social distancing that are pissing others off.

Are they?
So why are folks worried about Boris wanting the schools to reopen?

Good point....Not everyone is in agreement, and that's why it's not an order, there will be no penalty if kids are not sent back next week.
It is only for the youngest and oldest primary school kids....reopening of schools fully hasn't been confirmed yet.

And yet schools are open in Germany. Is Merkel crazy or are the German scientists? Do the German scientists even have a consensus?
It's extremely difficult determining what the "right" thing to do is, which can be different than legal. It's why I withhold judgement unless you're doing something like playing naked twister with strangers.

I agree it's a difficult decision knowing exactly what the right thing to do is.
The scientists and experts may have more info but it's still a new disease and no one is yet completely sure of the best way to handle the backlash of it.
Different countries are at different stages, they are also showing their statistics in different ways.
Obviously everyone is trying to avoid the second spike that some are predicting, so navigating through unchartered waters is risky.
I think, given the way this virus spreads, I wouldn't want to be playing twister, naked or otherwise with strangers at the moment.

If the right thing is difficult to determine, people shouldn't be insulting or shaming others for coming to a slightly different idea of what the right thing is.
It's like saying "we dont know what the correct level of distancing is, but were sure you're not doing it, ya selfish fucking bastards".

Like I say, the scientists have more info, they are the ones who are studying the virus, studying past viruses, comparing, experimenting, testing, they have all the data they have collected from their own countries and shared globally, so I would trust their judgment more than Joe Bloggs down the street who thinks he knows better and is disregarding all government advice.

The link wont work.
The lockdown has stopped infection spreading, that's obvious.
How can that have cost lives?
