I did go through about a one year period where I went to clubs and danced to Depeche Mode and the like.
I also probably did some damage to my brain with the stuff we took before going out.
It really wasn't me, but I had fun for a year or so dancing until 4 am then watching the sun come up somewhere.
Saw Depeche Mode live a few years ago here in Manchester. They were awesome.
I went to a reggae night once in Brixton at The Academy. The speakers were the size of a bloody house. What a night that was. Not many white faces in there but nobody cared. The love of music brings folks together.

I was never heavily into recreationals. But they often enhance the experience.

Apart from tobacco and alcohol I have never tried any other drug in my life. I have obviously been around quite a lot in my younger days, but I was never interested.

We used to call ecstasy, disco biscuits. Take one of those and you loved everyone and wanted to dance with everyone too.
But they were hard on you.
And who knows who put what in them. Sorta of a dangerous crap shoot.
