When I was in hospital that time in October there was a woman who had no visitors.
Nobody phoned or handed in pyjamas or anything.
I asked if she had anyone to look after her when she went home and she just shook her head.
She had collapsed in the street, just say it had happened at home.
The forgotten people....it's so sad.
When my mum died in an end of life care home, we were packing up her clothes, some were Christmas and birthday presents she had never worn.
We asked the carers if any of her nice things would help any of the residents. They said some ladies had been brought in months, even years ago, and had no family or friends visiting in all the time they were there.
I can remember the time we went to collect my Gran on Christmas Day at the hospital to take her home for the day.
The ladies that were left behind, nobody to come for them and no presents.
It was so sad.

Sounds like my mother's sister but when my Gran died she was round her house like a vulture.
Took my Gran's jewellery, purse, anything that wasn't nailed down.
My mum doesn't have anything to do with her anymore, not because of that but because of the way she behaved when my mum had cancer.
Good job my mum wasn't relying on her for a kidney, she was up shit creek if she was. 🙄

Years ago, during the Falklands War, my mum wrote to a soldier who had no family. A pen friend. I think a call went out for those who had no one to write to them. He was only young but loved her letters. She was witty and young at heart and it must have felt good to have someone who cared enough to write letters nobody else would.

Well she had two son's but they had moved a way and she didn't see them.
My mum had to be vetted by social services first and then during the first visit the woman said her husband had worked in one of the Steelworks and my mum said so did my husband.
So my mum mentioned it to my dad and he said "Bun?" that was his nickname, he was a lovely man.
So my dad went as well and shared stories about her husband and things that had happened during the time they worked together.
It made her really happy.

The only known photo of this lady has been published today, her passport photo.
The inquest takes place next week and i hope the police officers who went to her house a year after she died to do a welfare check and told a neighbour that Sheila Soloane was 'Safe and well' get asked why they told barefaced lies.
The Met have decided not to told an inquiry into it.
Shelia had two funerals, the one in the UK was attended by two people but at least her family in South Africa gave her a decent funeral.
Her remains were sent there after the British service, well if you can call it that.
On one side sat her brother Victor (Who's a convicted murderer) from who she was estranged and a man from Peabody Housing charity.

It's disgusting that this should happen today. The neighbour beneath her flat heard footsteps long after she was dead, which means that someone must have broken into her flat via the window which had scaffolding outside. For this to happen, the window must have been broken but so far the police have not released this info.

It's incredibly sad and the balloons? Was she celebrating her birthday on her own? And what about the damn postman, did you see the amount of unclaimed post in that link, maybe the inquest will answer some of this but I don't hold out much hope.

200 people turned up for her funeral in South Africa. Her neighbours here wanted to attend her UK funeral service but the bloody housing association said her brother didn't want anyone else there.

Did someone break in? Why did the smell or sight of a months old dead body not alert them, why didn't they call the police, even anonymously?
Surely even the lowest of life couldn't steal from a woman when her corpse had been left undiscovered for so long.

Maybe it was the murderer. Lived there for a bit with the dead woman. If that's the case they are a real nutter.

It's a horrible event, made even worse by the fact that someone must have known that poor woman was rotting away alone.
I can't think of a sadder end to a persons life.
