I love these old traditions, and they all had a point.

I'll have a quiet Hogmanay, I prefer it that way and then do some visiting on Ne'er Day.
It's traditional in Scotland to have steak pie for your dinner on the first of January.
The steak pies are like paving slabs, queues outside the butchers way down the street.
I'm not sure who will be my 'first foot' this year.

Just waiting to go to Tesco now for some last minute things for the Bells.
The thought of going later, tomorrow or on Hogmanay brings on a nervous breakdown.
Opens at 6 am and hopefully not too many folk have had the same idea as me.

Not really, got tooth whitening kit from Boots at half price, unfortunately when I came to pay with my advantage card, OH, who had it in his wallet, has lost it.
I might go to the big M&S at Handforth Dean next week, see what bargains they are keeping behind for the New Years Sale.

Sounds like my dad, he's always losing things.
I think the sales have been quite disappointing so far, not got many bargains myself.
Put on my new Jim-jams I had bought and there's a bloody big hole in them.
🙁

Can you take them back Vita? It's so annoying when new goods are damaged, even more so if you buy them online, all that messing about posting back etc.
The worse thing I bought, years ago from Debenhams. A black skirt with glittered flowers. When I wore it on NYE all the glitter fell off, at the end of the night it was a mostly black skirt.
I took it back, but because I had no paper receipt and it was now in the sale, the assistant said I could only have the sale price, which was less than half.
It was only when I insisted on seeing the manager, and she checked her records, because I had paid by card, I got the full price back.

It's New Years Eve...so if I don't get back on later....may I wish all friends, and posters....
I'll be sitting sipping whisky and watching Jools Holland. The show has been pretty rubbish though the last couple of years so I probably won't be watching it all the way through. When Ruby Turner is the star of the show every year you know how bad it's got.

I think the Hootenanny's days are numbered.

I think the Hootenanny's days are numbered.
We recorded it and flicked through the rubbish bits, especially Vic Reeves and his clingon desperately trying to get into every shot, and Ruby doing what she has done for the last 50 years.
All in all, I thought it was OK though, the Irish band and a couple of younger female singers were great I thought.
Old Rod sang in tune and Paul Jones....well a bit of nostalgia on NYE is always nice.

Cooking and preparing most of the day.
Having a coffee before the madness arrives.
New Years day meal together.
Basically a Sunday roast but the six year old insists it's xmas dinner if it has roasts pots and sprouts.
If we have a Sunday roast anytime of year it's Xmas dinner as far as she's concerned.
And grandad makes the biggest and best in the world!
