Why aren’t more people showing empathy towards the UnitedHealth CEO who is as murdered? Why are people defending the suspect?
Most of us are the suspect.
It is pretty clear that suspect was denied their insurance claim or their loved ones claim.
Luckily the law states that insurance companies must keep track of denials and make them public.
Except UnitedHealth denied that they have to follow the law.
Since they won’t make this information available, we can look at suspects who had their claims denied.
It could have been Dean Peterson of Los Angeles said he was “shocked” when payment was denied for a heart procedure to treat an arrhythmia, which had caused him to faint with a heart rate of 300 beats per minute. After all, he had the insurer’s preapproval for the expensive ($143,206) intervention. More confusing still, the denial letter said the claim had been rejected because he had “asked for coverage for injections into nerves in your spine” (he hadn’t) that were “not medically needed.” Months later, after dozens of calls and a patient advocate’s assistance, the situation is still not resolved.
He has reason.
Or maybe, this guy.
An insurer’s letter was sent directly to a newborn child denying coverage for his fourth day in a neonatal intensive care unit. “You are drinking from a bottle,” the denial notification said, and “you are breathing on your own.” If only the baby could read.
Maybe it was self-defense Deirdre O’Reilly’s college-age son, suffering a life-threatening anaphylactic allergic reaction, was saved by epinephrine shots and steroids administered intravenously in a hospital emergency room. His mother, utterly relieved by that news, was less pleased to be informed by the family’s insurer that the treatment was “not medically necessary.”
Maybe the CEO was not medically necessary.
Maybe it was me.
My wife had a chunk of her leg chopped off to remove the cancer. After getting the pre-approval to remove the cancer. The insurance company denied the claim.
I talked to the doctor who did the surgery, he didn’t care. His plastic surgery practice pays his bills and his joy in life is to use his skills to help people like my wife. Love his attitude on life.
When the list of suspects is pretty much the entire nation, you have give your empathy to the masses. Not some jerk whose company profits by killing people.

This kid wasn't denied anything. He had back surgery, got on reddit and talked how he was pain free.
Spent the next 6 months traveling Asia on Daddys dime.
He's going to spend at least the next 20 years getting government run healthcare. Hope he enjoys it..

One needs to understand how that income is possible here.
It's definitely not a result of excessive claim denials..
Thought this should be posted in the "News" Thread:
I read the following BBC Article:
British woman and fiance found dead in Vietnam villa (BBC 3rd Jan 2025)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62wek6w1deo
It intrigued me but the BBC never followed it up. So what happened? They drank two bottles of limoncello ordered from a restaurant which was later found to have high levels of methanol in them.
I do remember the BBC reporting on methanol contaminated alcohol in Laos and elsewhere in the past.

Why oh why are people so evil?
I sometimes wonder how far they can go before people rise up against them....and we see what happens when that happens.

"Police press conference summary - key points Here are the key points from the press conference held by police on Friday morning.
A 24-year-old Afghan, who arrived in Germany as an asylum-seeker in 2016, and said "Allahu Akbar" or "God is great" after his arrest. The suspected attacker admitted to driving into the crowd deliberately. Police now suspect an Islamist motivation behind the attack, but there is no evidence that the perpetrator was a member of an Islamist organisation. Yesterday, the Munich public prosecutor’s office named the detained person as Farhad Noori. A child is among the two people who were seriously injured, police confirmed. According to BR24, this child was a two-year-old girl. A total of 36 people among the demonstrators were injured. The suspect said goodbye to relatives before the crash. "Tomorrow I won't be here anymore,” he told family members. The suspect’s phones and electronics have been seized. His communications, mostly in Arabic, give indications of Islamist tendencies, they said. The suspect is under investigation on 36 counts of attempted murder as well as bodily harm and dangerous interference with road traffic."

A small child is amongst the seriously hurt.
The carnage that was left behind, with a smashed up pram, was horrible to see.
These people come to countries looking for a safe haven (they say) and act like this. It seems to be happening, using cars as weapons more and more.

The carnage after the Munich attack showed a crumpled pram. The 2 year old child and her mother have since died of their injuries.
"A mother, 37, and her two-year-old daughter have died from injuries they sustained in Thursday's car attack in the German city of Munich, police say.
At least 37 people were injured when a car was driven into a crowd of people at a trade union rally.
The driver was a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker, police said, identified in local media as Farhad N.
He was arrested at the scene and prosecutors say he has admitted to carrying out the attack. He appeared to have a religious motivation, officials said.
The mother and child were among those taken to hospital with serious injuries following the attack.
"Unfortunately, we have to confirm the deaths today of the two-year-old child and her 37-year-old mother," police spokesman Ludwig Waldinger told the AFP news agency on Saturday."
