I am useless at wrapping presents. Give me a square box and I can still make it look like a crumpled mess...it's just a gift I have.
Last night, me and OH wrapped grandsons hamper, we make him one up every year, and every year it's the same palaver. But this year my aim was to reach higher.
So we decorated the box (which was a supermarket box that had contained fruit) the shop bought wicker baskets are never big enough, so we always cadge a strong cardboard box from somewhere. We managed this without too much drama, though it took time, a couple of Christmas paper rolls and much sellotape.
This year my aim was to place cellophane under the box, then bring it up and over, gather it together in a big fan, and tie it with thick gold ribbon.
By the time it was anywhere near my imagined image, we had run out of cellophane, even though I had bought 3 rolls, had to turn the heating off we were sweating that much, and were just about on speaking terms.
Next year I think I will go back to the original format of NOT trying to make it look like it was bought from Harrods.
Double sided craft tape is good for wrapping parcels Syl.
Put a few lengths the width of the box and it holds the paper in it in place when you turn the box over.
Then you don't have the hassle of it moving about when you gather it together to put the bow round.
Put awkward shaped items on at an angle, never straight on the paper.
I've been wrapping everyone's presents up for years.
That's a brilliant idea Vita, I have lots of double sided tape I use for crafting, I never thought of using it for wrapping pressies.
I do use it to stick the fancy decorations on after I have wrapped the pressies....it sticks better than the little double sided tag they usually come with.

When I wrap presents, sellotape always sticks to my fingers.
Also tape sticks down on the roll, then I have to try and prise it open again. 😤
Get one of those little dispensers that rips the Sellotape off then sticks to the blade so you dont lose the end. Without that little gadget, I would still be wrapping that hamper up.

I'd be lost without mine. It's a great big heavy metal one so it doesn't move around or break.

I've been using it on parcels for years Syl, great for when you need six hands to wrap something.
So wee sticky things on gift tags are hopeless, one year the presents from my mum's brother arrived and they were all at the bottom of the bag, we had to play pass the parcel as we opened them!!
Have a great Christmas Syl, hope Santa spoils you!!

Can I add my own wishes here and use your pic too Vita, for some reason my laptop won't let me post a nice Christmas card since it updated itself.
So, for our few members, (quality not quantity is all ) plus Poca, Vam, quiz playing guests (you know who you are) everyone who looks in and reads, even if they don't post, wishing you all a happy Christmas full of treats, and if you don't really like this time of year, a quiet and peaceful time.
All the best for 2025, let's hope it's a good one. xxx

Hope everyone had a good Christmas day, and for those who don't enjoy Christmas, cheer up, it's over for another year.
I have a hangover, too much prosecco, happy to have a quiet day to recuperate.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!!
I had a nice time but have eaten too many chocolates and crisps.
We had a local drama when someone crashed into a parked car and sent it wizzing down the street into the power supply.
Lots of households were without power from 3pm on Christmas day.
People dashing all over the place with food seeing if their neighbours were affected and if not could they cook things.
Gave me a scare because I often walk Shorty in that area.
In fact I was there in the morning.
Poor lad who's car was smashed into is a right off and he only had it six weeks.
😟

But if the lad is OK, at least it was the car that was hurt not him, so that's good.
When dramas like that happen in a neighbourhood, it's nice to know people are there to help one another out,
As usual, over Christmastime there have been some awful things on the news, both here and abroad, it's always the same.
