I never read any of her books but enjoyed the recent TV adaptation of Rivals - a proper middle England saucy romp, set in times when political correctness and wokeness were yet to be a blight on our lives.
She always seemed to have a twinkle in her eye.
RIP

That's a shame, she always seemed so full of personality. I didn't read her books either, I presumed they were in the Jackie Collins mode of writing.
She was 88. RIP Jilly Cooper.

Weren't her books all Tally Ho and upper crust rogering?
I can't abide that kind of fiction. Boring.

I never read any of her books, but I recall the cover of one featuring Jodhpurs and a whip...so you could be right.

I loved her acting.
First saw her in Looking for Mr Goodbar, with Richard Gere...a really underated film.
RIP Diane Keaton.

Meryl Streep talking about her friend, Diane Keaton, at a Life Achievement Award ceremony 😊
I love this picture of her. Underneath all her kooky hats and wacky outfits, she really had beautiful eyes! 👇🏻
Meryl Streeps tribute to her was lovely.
Both women always seem ageless to me. Like Helen Mirren and others, they are obviously physically older, but mentally, they have kept their youth, and like you commented, the eyes often show this.

One of my favourite actresses died last week. From being a kid and first being taken to the cinema with my mum, I saw her in a film and thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen....I still think that.
She was mesmerising in 'Once Upon A Time In The West'.
RIP Claudia Cardinale.

She was sensational. And I bet, even at age 87, her smile could still light up a room.
Riposa in pace, bellissima signora… 🕯️🕊️

I remember Fen having her as an avi on her own forum, I said she was beautiful, she said she doesn't look like that now.
Well obviously, she didn't. She aged naturally, and every photo I saw of her in her 70's and 80's, she looked so happy....and that is far more important than trying to retain young looks...which as we all see.... doesn't work anyway.
Beautiful Claudia, no matter what her age.

So sad.
"An inquest into the death of Ricky Hatton has provisionally confirmed that the British boxing icon died by hanging. Hatton was found unresponsive at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester on September 14, with police confirming that there were no suspicious circumstances. He was 46."

Liked her, she was in her.nineties, so a good.life. Sadly she succumbed to Alzheimer's a few years before passing.

Timothy West, her husband, died less than a year ago.
I loved the canal journeys programme they made together fairly recently.
