We've had plenty of black actors taking major parts in movies. Loads of them. You make it sound like there are none at all. We've got Idris Elba. Will Smith. Jamie Foxx. Samuel L Jackson. Danny Glover. Denzel Washington. Wesley Snipes. Laurence Fishburne. Dwayne Johnson. Forest Whittaker. Michael B Jordan. James Earl Jones. Cuba Gooding Jnr. Mekhi Phifer. Don Cheadle. Sidney Poitier. The definition of racist is characterized by or showing prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group She's done none of that. She's merely voiced an opinion of a fact. That's not racist. Like I said the term is bandied about like peanuts at a party. It no longer has any power and it's getting boring.
By that definition what the MP said WAS racist as she certainly did show antagonism towards POC as a group. She didn't just state that the amount of people of colour in adverts don't reflect the actual amount. She said it made her "mad" or angered her to see black people. You can't say you are angry at the sight of POC in any capacity without it being racist. If people said they were saddened by the sight of white people that too would be a racist statement but white people wouldn't care because that isn't a consistent view and white people (especially white rich men,) are still in charge of sociery.
Change the word "black" to 'disabled "and this ghastly woman then said she WAS angered seeing too many disabled people in adverts. Listen to how that sounds. She would have been out of a job.
The word racism and indeed being accused of being racist ,has certainly lost its power ,but not because it's overused, but because the Murdoch media has ensured racist rhetoric has been normalised. We are now used to hearing xenophobic rhetoric so are desensitized to it which is actually very dangerous in its wider implications.
Only white people have the luxury of being bored by the now commonplace casual racism adopted slowly but surely by the media. I despair of this country and what we are becoming.

It's pretty simple Maddets. I know some here support Reform and a lot of potential Reform voters felt this MP went too far and complained about what they deemed to be racist rhetoric. I wanted to see if posters here agreed.
Well, it clearly matters to some people. It's all engineered by the leftie wokerati though many major retailers have learned the hard way that marketing is very very important to your brand and losing sight of who your customer base is, is extremely detrimental.
In a mostly white country, it's not wise to undervalue your main customers.
So, the question is, would you go over to say, Japan or Africa and tell them they need to utilise more white people in their ads and media? I bet you wouldn't.

We've had plenty of black actors taking major parts in movies. Loads of them. You make it sound like there are none at all. We've got Idris Elba. Will Smith. Jamie Foxx. Samuel L Jackson. Danny Glover. Denzel Washington. Wesley Snipes. Laurence Fishburne. Dwayne Johnson. Forest Whittaker. Michael B Jordan. James Earl Jones. Cuba Gooding Jnr. Mekhi Phifer. Don Cheadle. Sidney Poitier. That's because it's an inaccurate parallel. Japan and Africa have predominantly Japanese and African people there who happen to look Japanese and black.
Here, being British means you are white or black.
