Yeah, she was from Philadelphia. I remember her as being very laid back.
Speaking of those times, I wonder what ever happened to Vils. He has a an odd French dude, or at least lived in France. I liked him, but almost never agreed with him.
He was a very active poster for a few years then just seemed to walk away from it all.
Probably still busy making french sticks to chase the maids with!
He was like a one man 'Carry on' film.

Grim figures in the UK today, 367 deaths, even allowing for the weekend lag that's bad, and as we are a few weeks behind France who lost 523 people today things are going to get even worse - it's almost back to square one.
Plus of course it has been discovered that immunity does not last very long.

Are we behind them? Why are we behind them? Are we behind Spain as well. I know this has been spoken about before throughout this pandemic. But do you know exactly how it works.
It is grim once again for the usual suspects, France, Spain, UK. Spain had 267 deaths today and their population is 21 million less than ours. And Italy is getting grim again now also. And even Germany are now starting to get hit hard arguably harder than they did the first time around.

IIRC we are usually about 14 days behind France JP according to our best epidemiologists and yes the situation in Europe is all very disturbing - but not as disturbing as the US according to experts I have been watching, they in turn are two weeks behind us and Trump can spout as much shit as he likes, COVID there will not be 'forgotten' the day after the election.

While I'm not voting for the orange man, this is why I dont blame him for our deaths. None of the European leaders have done very well either. The rate ebbs and flows regardless of the politics of the leaders.
Our rates are inching back up in certain areas.
In Texas, our Governor has about half the people wanting to hang him for closing too many things and for too long. The other half want to hang him first not closing more things.
Usually I don't feel sorry for politicians as they volunteered for this stuff, but I wouldn't want to be one now. Nobody is really happy with them. At least those on the right side of the political spectrum.

The difference between him and European leaders is that he played down the danger, posted endless conspiracy theories and outright lies on twitter, ridiculed the Democrats for following social distancing and wearing masks, held super-spreader events and undermined his medical advisers like Dr Fauci at every opportunity, hell a lot of his fanatical supporters don't even believe COVID exists - until it kills them.
With all the resources the US has having 4% of the world population but over a quarter of the deaths is a disgrace.

See, you're hung up on behavior. I'm results driven. In spite of Trumps silly antics, we are right there with much of Europe, in terms of deaths per capita.
We are also the most obese country on the planet, with a huge number of people with pre existing conditions.
Are the leaders of Belgium and Spain Worse than Trump, or is there something else driving their numbers higher than ours?
As for resources, Europe supposedly has the best healthcare on the planet, yet far poorer countries are doing much better than most of Europe.

Time will tell whether the UK will go into full lockdown again.
If tier 3, which we and other parts of the country are in presently doesn't work and hospital admissions and deaths continue to rise at the rate they are now....I expect we will all be back to square one again.

I also actually think you cannot really blame leaders too much at all for deaths. And what covid has done to a given Country.
Looking at the facts of it. Almost all of what you would class as among the very most prominent and most traveled too Countries on the planet have been hit among the very hardest of all. US, UK, Spain, Italy, France. There are also other Countries in Europe who've been hit very hard like Belgium for example.
Then you have the likes of Portugal, Greece, Denmark, Romania. Who haven't seemingly been hit that hard. This virus is all very strange in some ways that is for sure.
Many of the hardest hit Countries also seem to be the ones who traditionally have the most independent minded people. For quite obvious reasons it makes sense why they would be hit the hardest. It's Countries that contain more people who will fight against the establishment, and the rules and ask questions. Unlike people who live in your more dictatorial, totalitarian Countries.
All of what I've just said stands as long as you just take all of the current statistics that we see at face value. And don't factor in that some Countries will record covid19 deaths differently. And how some Countries are adding more accurate data on care home deaths an other setting deaths into their official totals than others.
