Didn't Taylor start off singing and composing country music? Seems she evolved since those days.

She was a pop singer that did pop country for awhile. She's exactly where she needs to be now.
She can take half of Nashville with her too. 😉

Music snob. She started in country, progressed to pop when her taste developed.
"Born in Pennsylvania in 1989, Swift developed a passion for country music at an early age, inspired by artists like Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton. She began performing at local events and writing her own songs when she was a preteen."

I know her history well and I'm not a snob. I just understand the machine called Nashville and how it owns musicians and forces them to play music the record producers want to play.
It's why Willie Nelson left in the early 70s..
I'm sure Taylor also loves having 100% creative control over what she writes. Same as Willie.

The company that owned Taylor Swifts music had nothing to do with C&W music, their interests were in pop and R&B. She wanted control over all her music so she bought them out. Good for her.

Sure, but my point is Nashville record executive want formulaic music that appeals to the masses.
If you sign with them, they choose what goes on the album and what gets released..
That's why many artists prefer to remain independent. They get to keep control of their music.
Of course going/staying independent will keep you off most radio and the country award shows..
Taylor chose to break away and do pop music because that's really her style..
She's not going to break into a cover of Patsy Cline at one of her shows..

Yes, she is a very astute business woman with no doubt great advisors helping her.
She has certainly come a long way since that arsehole Pdiddy tried to make her look small at the Grammys.

Yup, I think her business acumen is phenomenal.
That's why she's a billionaire.

They definitely aren't as popular.
"Sierra Ferrell won four Grammy Awards at the 2025 ceremony, winning every category in which she was nominated. She swept the Americana and American Roots fields, winning for Best Americana Album for Trail of Flowers, Best American Roots Song and Best Americana Performance for "American Dreaming," and Best American Roots Performance for "Lighthouse"

Obviously not a new song, but a new song to her and it was just released a few hours ago..
A few hours after she inked a record deal with Republic Records (same record company as Ms Swift). This girl has crashed in travel trailers at NASCAR with buddies of mine and sang at a wedding I attended..
She has put in the work for 10 years and I'm glad to see it paying off.

It's new to me. /\
Something a little livelier.
The original. I don't know anything about the group, but I've heard the song a bunch.
Maybe because I have millennial daughters..
Pick your version..Elizabeth got quite the shock when her grandma called her and said Kelly Clarkson is singing your song on her show..
My granddaughter and I rocked out to a little of this artist on our trip to Houston this weekend.
The "squeezebox" gives it a zydeco vibe.
