Freezing cold here and apparently it's going to get colder.
My father was very cheerful yesterday when he said "I won't survive this winter"
🙄
 Anyway...
I told him enough of that talk because it's only a few months until I contact Buckingham Palace about the telegram from the King.
60 years married, good grief!!
I didn't know people got a telegram from the king for being married 60 years Vita, I thought it was only for their 100th birthday, Congrats to your mum and dad...tell him to hang in there.
Next week I and OH will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, hopefully we will be like your mum and dad and get to 60 one day.
Â
I've got to send the marriage certificate in Syl, about six weeks in advance.
I'll have to buy one because my mother "can't find it" actually she knows fine where it is but is being awkward.
Same as she doesn't want their fotie in the local paper because people will say "look at those two auld gits"
No party, they've decided to go on a wee holiday.
Good for them, I am like your mum, I hate a big fuss.
We are normally away on our anniversary, because it's the same day as my birthday....this year we are staying home.
No party, no big fuss, just a meal out in a nice restaurant with close family.

UK Winter Predictions for 2024/2025: What to Expect
As the UK heads towards winter 2024/2025, early forecasts suggest a complex and potentially dramatic season, driven by global weather patterns. Based on meteorological models, climatologists predict a colder, wetter, and snowier winter than in recent years. With La Niña potentially playing a key role in shaping the season, here’s what you need to know about what lies ahead.
Torrential rain today in Manchester, almost impossible to see whilst driving, I can't remember ever seeing anything so powerful.

After reading the regional weather warnings earlier I've just ensured my tablet(s) are fully charged and copied over some books that I haven't listened to. Of course I spent an age looking for my torch as I couldn't remember where I'd put it. And a timely purchase of rechargeable hand warmers may come in handy (terrible pun, sorry).
OTT probably but I got caught out with a power outage a while back and it was miserable.

went to bed about 8.30 pm to get some sleep before the onslaught!
Just got up 3.30 am and not a spit of rain or the slightest breeze.
It's creepily still and silent out there... the calm before the storm?

Thanks Mags, not sure how bad Scotland will get this storm, I know Wales is set to have strong winds....hopefully where Vita is it won't be too bad.
The wind has dropped here for a bit, it's pouring down and hasn't even got light today....it's been like dusk since this morning.

Enjoy yourselves, and no dancing on tables if you have one too many, think of your hips.Â

Few trees down around and about plenty of flooded fields and large bodies of water along
certain routes but nothing major.
Apparently there was a gust of 97 mph at Capel Currig
still windy still wet but it has been nothing more than your usual winter storm.
They seem to hype it all up these days as being something new.
It's not it's winter!

I wonder if I light a candle at St Mary's I might be able to master the mysteries of hot water pastry. My pork pies are a fucking disgrace!Â

On the plus side 60% UK's electricity was wind-generated yesterday, so that's a bonus. 0% coal-generated by the way.
