The Pentagon this week ordered the elimination of lower physical fitness standards for women in combat units, a move that is likely to hinder the recruitment and retention of women in particularly dangerous military jobs.
An order by Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary, dated Sunday and announced on Monday, mandated that all physical fitness requirements for combat arms positions — units likely to see significant fighting in wartime — be “sex-neutral,” which is likely to significantly reduce the number of women who meet the requirements. The order directs military leadership to implement the new fitness standards by the end of October.
I'm cool with this. The military needs to discriminate oh the basis of fitness..
Sure. But maybe that should start with the pisshead who’s running the place.
Murdoch never even trusted him beyond anchoring a weekend show on FOX.

He's not in combat.
Forget your positions on individuals.
Do you think this POLICY is a good idea?
Can you separate your personal feelings about people from positions they take?

I know (and thank fuck for that!).
I can’t do that, because it’s impossible for me to take the inept fool seriously as Defence Secretary.
Yes, of course I do. But as the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
No.

The fittest thing most troops have to face is lugging gear for miles to the point of conflict.
It's very rare they have to run along beams swing from bar to bar on a monkey frame and so on.
The Chinese have over a hundred thousand highly trained women in combat roles and looking at how disciplined they are I reckon they'd be a force to be reckoned with.

Highly trained and fit as fuck.
Big difference..
The Chinese aren't using their military as a social testing ground.
They are creating the most lethal entity they can..

As I pointed out previously, even with companies only investing in made-in-America manufacturing, it’s not as if car/electronic/clothing, etc, plants can suddenly materialise overnight. It could take years!
Whenever I’ve had the news on today, the headline has pretty much been the same - the White House trump advisers and aides are still unsure exactly what tariffs trump has in mind, when he gives his big ‘Golden Age of American Liberation’ tariff speech tomorrow.
It seems they’re running around like headless chickens. I don’t know how long it will take for even the most ardent MAGA cult to finally figure out they’re being conned, but it surely can only be a question of time before this chaos and ineptitude will bring the Musk/trump administration down.

Both men and women should meet the same standards in the military. If standards aren't met then no role...regardless of sex.

How exactly would they be brought down?
A coup?.
Are you aware of how unpopular the opposition party is?.

If Bernie had been elected, would you have the same feelings when he instituted tariffs?
Or is the source of the tariff more important than the actual impact of the tariff?

"Instead of fretting about Trump, Stubb believes that Europeans should “calm down, take a nice bath, take a sauna, take a deep breath” and “engage rather than disengage”. He is in town presumably to pass on just that message to Sir Keir Starmer."
Probably not bad advice and I doubt this guy is a right wing ideologue..

Engage? Yes.
Make contingency plans in the light of what Trump says he will do? Also yes.
Relationships are built on trust. It's hard trust anyone who isn't true to their word.

The Atlanta Fed's GDP estimate for Q1 was been revised again.
It is now -3.7%.
You can see how Trump managed to bankrupt a casino.

It’s undeniable people are becoming increasingly fed up with all the chaos and uncertainty. Do you think the unprecedented numbers clamouring to address their elected representatives at Town Halls, are all paid ’radical libtard‘ infiltrators?
I guess I’m hoping that, eventually, enough public pressure will be put on congress and SCOTUS to grow a freaking spine and at least start reining in some of Musk/trump’s worst excesses and abuses of power. Something has to break this out of control impasse.
Yes, I’m aware that the Democrats are circling the drain these days. As for Bernie Sanders - imo, he’s another example why there should be term limits for people serving in congress. Way too many octogenarians - and even nonagenarians - rattling around the joint.

The numbers aren't unprecedented..That's some sort of drama you read on a biased site somewhere..
There has been some reigning in of his excesses.
Problem is, much of what he does is legal because congress gave away their power decades ago.
Best case to stop him is legislation and that's not going to happen until the mid terms. And I'm not sure it will even happen then.
He's not as unpopular here as he is in your head..

Could be him, could have been the candidate.
Trump won Michigan, while the Republican running for Senate lost.
Tens of thousands of people in Michigan voted for Trump and a Dem for Senate..
There are people out there (like me) that vote for candidates in 2 or even 3 parties.
So while it could be a drop in support for Trump, it could just as easily be a good candidate beat a bad candidate..
I didn't pay that much attention to either one so I couldn't tell you..
