I don't fancy anyone's chances removing Robert Baden-Powell's statue down in Dorset. Not after the group of people I've just seen on the news. One old guy was ready to fight! :D
Its getting ridiculous now. People will fight back. Probably more so in places such as Dorset. I think In general people in places such as Dorset care more about their heritage.
Good for them. This is still England and we have many statues and Heritage.
Why was the Saville one taken down?
Hero of yours was he?
The police should check your hard drive, roaring and greeting because that bastards statue was taking down.
I don’t think it was a statue but a massive monument at the head of his grave. I wouldn’t be surprised if his body was exhumed and buried somewhere secret.

Fahrenheit 451 anyone???
Add Statues, film's and TV into the mix...and here we are.
"Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by American writer Ray Bradbury, first published in 1953. Often regarded as one of his best works,[4] the novel presents a future American society where books are outlawed and "firemen" burn any that are found.[5] The book's tagline explains the title: "Fahrenheit 451 – the temperature at which book paper catches fire, and burns..." The lead character, Guy Montag, is a fireman who becomes disillusioned with his role of censoring literature and destroying knowledge, eventually quitting his job and committing himself to the preservation of literary and cultural writings."

Put up a statue of Hitler or Oswald Mosley then.

Maybe Germany should erase Hitler from it's history books?
Lets never learn any lessons from the wrongs people have done in the past...erase it all...eventually it'll be erased from future generations memories.
Then every country can start all over again with a clean slate.

It’s not erasing history you dumb bint. It’s about not putting cunts like Saville on a pedestal even though he did a lot of charity work.

Almost every single thing and person from a 100 years plus ago. Had at least some what would now be considered as controversial elements within them. The Guardian newspaper of all things had a racist element/story way back in time. Should The Guardian be disbanded. Imagine just how many things would go if you tried to completely wipe out everything from the past in the same way some want various statues to be removed.
Below is from Boris's Twitter. Imo perfectly summed up.
The statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square is a permanent reminder of his achievement in saving this country – and the whole of Europe – from a fascist and racist tyranny. It is absurd and shameful that this national monument should today be at risk of attack by violent protestors. Yes, he sometimes expressed opinions that were and are unacceptable to us today, but he was a hero, and he fully deserves his memorial.
We cannot now try to edit or censor our past. We cannot pretend to have a different history. The statues in our cities and towns were put up by previous generations. They had different perspectives, different understandings of right and wrong. But those statues teach us about our past, with all its faults. To tear them down would be to lie about our history, and impoverish the education of generations to come.
As for the planned demonstrations, we all understand the legitimate feelings of outrage at what happened in Minnesota and the legitimate desire to protest against discrimination. Whatever progress this country has made in fighting racism - and it has been huge - we all recognise that there is much more work to do.
But it is clear that the protests have been sadly hijacked by extremists intent on violence. The attacks on the police and indiscriminate acts of violence which we have witnessed over the last week are intolerable and they are abhorrent. The only responsible course of action is to stay away from these protests.
One more thing for me to add. To people like my Nan, to her having to cover up and protect Winston's statue is akin to forgetting her and her generation. She's not happy, putting it mildly. This whole thing is getting beyond ridiculous.

Don't know Digger. I do think that legitimate genuine peaceful protesters should somehow stop or avoid anarchist protesters and extremists shitting all over their genuine concerns. Because that is what almost always happens. The masses watching will see violence and vandalism. And eventually say ok fuck the lot of you then!
Ultimately much of the time there are, far, far, better ways and avenues of bringing about change than protests.

The statue of Robert the Bruce has been defaced and painted with BLM shite and guff calling him 'Racist King'
As someone pointed out...
Robert the Bruce had nothing to do with BLM and this is just an act of disgusting vandalism and an attack on Scottish history.
It's time the police started throwing these arsewipes in jail like they would anyone else who commits acts of vandalism.
What proof do you have that it was BLM? Anyone can vandalise and write whatever they want. Including devious cunts. Remember how guests used to argue with themselves when you were modding dogs? There are a lot of sinister shit stirrers around who enjoy a bunfight. Get smart. Don’t fall for the hype the way you fell for it before.
Violent thugs attacking the police in London today. throwing bottles and punching. Peeing on monuments, leaving rubbish everywhere. But they’re far right so it’s to be expected.

Last week predominately black thugs were attacking police pretending to be BLM supporters.
Thugs of any colour or creed have little concern for the causes they are latching onto.
