Exactly, to begin with we all were told that wearing a mask could do more harm than not wearing one. You could wear a mask but if you keep touching it like so many people do by readjusting it , it defeats the purpose completely. If your mask happens to get contaminated by the virus you're screwed. IMO the best defends is to keep distance, keeps using your hand sanitiser while out, don't touch your face and wash your hands as often as you can. Trump could have worn a mask and still catch CD19. He managed a long time avoiding it.

So did many other leaders, people all over the world died and are still dying, I really don't believe that his stance on masks caused all those death. I think it had more to do with all the mingling during the riots, also people had parties and disregarded the warnings to keep distance. On top of it, people wanted their businesses to open. Trump was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.
The death rate is basically the same as in the UK per population, a bit over 0.6%
Don't forget, America has 328 million people.

It was the first clip I came across, but the advice that masks could possibly cause more harm than good and were not recommended for the general public in the UK was being repeated at almost every daily Downing st update back then.....and they stopped in June.

A fair number of Countries actually are now in the same area as USA and UK when it comes to death per capita statistics. Around 600 and higher. Over time some leveling out of this statistic has occurred. Months ago some experts said that in the end a year or more later down the line many Countries will end up within the same ballpark. I actually think that's right. And the figures are starting to show that.

I notice another Country has been added. It has sat on 213 Countries that have had at least 1 positive covid case for ages. Solomon Islands is now 214 they have 1 case.
Interesting how there are different figures around regarding how many different Countries and territories there are in the World. I've always thought the number is around 200. UN say it's 251 though.

The problem I have with Trump is that he blatantly tweeted and shared preposterous COVID conspiracy theories and is in total denial about the scale of the problem, mocking Biden for taking precautions and saying it would disappear like a fart in the wind.
God knows how many people he and his supporters have needlessly infected at their mass rallies with no social distancing or masks.
The US is now ahead of the UK per capita deaths and they had the advantage of being far less densely populated as a whole and the fatalities will continue to mount at around a thousand a day.
I blame Trump for this and so do all the medical experts whom he has been at war with most of the time.
Him and his chum Bolsonaro have by far the greatest death tolls in the world and are nowhere near the end of even the first wave in their respective countries.

Coming back to the U.K. and not self isolating for the 2 weeks.
Boris should have made everyone wear masks right at the very start, and made it compulsory,
