Cheques can bounce though, If I was in business I would be wary of accepting them.
The good old days when cash was king have long gone. People (even before Covid) turn their noses up at ready cash nowadays, especially for large amounts.
I still take cash and folks will pay me that way.

Yep, in business cash has always had advantages.
We have restaurants offering cash discounts now because credit card companies skim a little off of each purchase.

Alternatively here many businesses are requesting credit/debit card payments so cash needn't be handled.

So while people can legally behave like they used to, it appears a great many of them won't.

Maybe some people feel safer in crowded places wearing a mask. I can understand that, even though we have many here who have never bothered wearing one in the first place.
I am more looking forwards to not having to social distance. Not only so I can hug and be close to family and friends, but also so I don't have to be aware of standing feet apart from strangers when I am out. It's a horrible way to live, treating everyone (and being treated) like a leper.

Well Syl the novel 1984 has crossed mine a lot over the last year with all the statue toppling and attempts to erase history by the thought police and BLM.
How can we learn from the past if it is covered up and hidden?

It's not just that though is it, its also not being able to speak out that you feel something is wrong. If you think the rules are mad and often make no sense and try to say so, the brainwashed will jump on you, call you selfish tell you to shut up and follow the rules. 1984 was not just about getting rid of history. it was about programing people to comply and police each other into being a good citizen

People can and do speak out when they feel something is wrong. Forums (the ones that don't encourage bullying) are a good example of giving people a voice.
If people have the courage to speak out and go against the crowd, I'm sure they have the nerve to stand up to and face the fallout.

Long lunches with friends & travelling to visit relatives (or have them visit me) - free of any restrictions. After being stuck abroad for 5 months last year, it’ll be great to know I can safely book return flights home again

Right now, we have a 4-person at a time limit. When my lot do manage to organise a get-together (outside dining only) we have to spread ourselves out across 2 or 3 tables. And we yell - a lot!
