I think my misgivings about Charles assuming the role of King may have been premature. I hope so, cos I have no prob at all admitting when I’m wrong.
Great to see him so readily greeting & interacting with the public at Buckingham Palace. And his speech blew me away - you can’t fake sincerity & emotion like that. This is his time…long & well may he reign.
Have a peaceful weekend, everyone.
I don't think Charles is a bad person. He's made some bad mistakes, and from all accounts can be a bit precious about his status and things he holds dear to his heart but he's only human. I think he'll struggle more than the Queen to uphold her values and way of operating, but hopefully, he'll do a good job.
Thanks for posting that Vita, it was good to remember those events.
Everyone who knew her, and many who met her, remark on her good sense of humour.

King Charles, whilst signing his declaration today, found the small table with big documents a bit irritating, and it showed. It was a funny moment in a very historical event....poor William was left without a pen when he came forwards to sign.

Her Majesty was said to be quite mischievous, Syl.
Did you hear the story about the time she came across two American tourists while out walking in Balmoral with her protection officer?
One asked her 'Have you ever met the Queen and she replied no but he has' the tourist said 'Oh would you take our photo with him then and handed the Queen his camera'

Her Majesty's Coffin will leave Balmoral today at 10:00 am and pass through towns and villages in Royal Desside before heading into Aberdeen and then south into Edinburgh.
Does anyone else always get the same image in your mind when you see a row of people dressed in black walking. Of reservoir dogs?

It is being suggested the walkabout was a pre-emptive move by William to stop Harry and Meghan going on a walk about on their own with the Netflix camera crew.

The people of Scotland will be able to start paying their respects to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth from 5pm today.
Her Majesty will lie in state at St Giles Cathedral and the Crown of Scotland will be placed upon her coffin.
Queues could last 12 hours and be as long as three miles.
No photos or videos will be allowed and mourners will have to pass through airport-style security..
I’ve always been fascinated by the languages, words and, especially, the accents of people the whole world over.
Hearing King Charles speak just now supports what I’ve always thought. The English language truly is the best and most wonderful spoken language in the world. It can be like velvet to the ears!

I found the sight of Princess Anne curtseying as the coffin bearing the Queen passed really moving.
She has lost her mother, and all the pomp and ceremony in the world won't ease her pain.
Every daughter who has lost a beloved mother will feel her pain.

My mum did too Syl.
I know you've lost your mum and my mum's mum passed away fifteen years ago and she still misses her.

That's a shitty looking crown.
A few cheap pearls dotted around it. Not a jewel encrusted crown full of precious stones like diamonds that you see on the English crown.
That thing is actually an insult to place on her coffin

Despite appearing together, it was obvious that it was done through clenched teeth.
The Prince and Princess of Wales kept their distance most of the time and the two couples only stood together at the start and end of the walkabout.
Apparently some folk didn't offer Meghan or Harry their hand to shake but did with Kate and William.
