@ Syl /Diggs … please let me know if you feel I’m spamming the board with all the Trump/Elon/etc stuff, and I’ll dial it down a bit.
It’s just that when I’m around I often seem to be the only one posting
Anyway, one final post coming up, before I wish everyone a great weekend

Much of America and the world are in fear of the economic freefall, caused by trump‘s batshit tariff whims. One imagines the Oval Office would be a hive of frenetic activity, with computers overheating and phones ringing off the hook.
Nope - trump left everyone hanging when he checked out on Thursday and headed to Florida. Because, golf!
At least the Lithuanian people had the decency and respect to line the streets and lay flowers to honour the 4 American servicemen, who were accidentally killed during a recent military exercise. The Lithuanians gave them a dignified heroes’ send-off.
The fallen 4 were then transferred to Andrews Air Force Base, where a POTUS is usually there to salute them and oversee a traditional ‘dignified transfer’. Not this time, though. Because, golf! (among his Saudi Arabian buddies)
Look at all this fuss activity and expense, just to haul his rancid arse down to Florida every weekend. Cost to the American taxpayers so far since January = $26million. Hellllllllo….Elon/DOGE….??

You can post what you like Vam, as long as it's legal.
Neither me nor Digger are precious about who says what.

Trump reciprocal tarifs reported as the end of the world.
Biden, UK & EU unilateral sanctions on Russia preventing UK and EU receiving cheap Russian Gas, Oil and Grain resulting in massive fuel and food price inflation and the cost of living crisis reported as absolutely necessary to save the free world and anyone criticizing it (those that are pushed into poverty) are called surrender monkeys and deserving of censure.
It is amazing how gullible and stupid the well off middle classes become when the sources of information they rely on (BBC etc) turns out to be propaganda narrative.

Thanks ladies
I guess I’m enjoying the sense of familiarity, given I’ve cyber-known most of the folks here for 11 years (if you include my Dog days). And now that Avon has taught me how to post vids, I’m completely unfettered
I do effin hate spammers though!

Well, that surprised me! I expected you’d be the first to tell me to eff off with my “hyperbole/emotion/bias” etc etc.
OK…no hidden agenda - I’m simply looking for your take on something I keep seeing on social media, ever since 47’s Tariff Palooza explosion.
Theory is that it’s all a deliberate spoof, along the lines of: Tariffs announcement > Stocks plummet > Gazillionaires buy cheap stocks like they’re in Costco on Black Friday > Tariffs get rolled back > Stock market recovers >>> Kerching!
I‘ve got the tin foil ready to unroll to wear on my head, once you start snarking at me.

That will work for people like Warren Buffet who converted a lot of stock into cash before the dip. Problem is, they still hold most of their wealth in stock and have lost billions.
It's true that you should "buy the dip" but that doesn't erase the fact that the dip costs you a lot of money too.
For most people, including the wealthy, this sort of thing isn't nearly as lucrative as the market just constantly going up.
Trump would like interest rates to go down and this MIGHT help. Mortgage rates are slowly going down, but that's before we start seeing any inflation created by these tariffs.

And stop reading social media of people that post things like this is some diabolical plan.
It's not.
Trump doesn't think that way. People like Xi in China play a long game like that..

Trump doesn’t think and figure things out at all. He has people for that kind of thing, because he’s inherently lazy and mind-blowingly stupid.
He lets everyone around him do the work, while he sits there babbling at pressers and signing shit.
It‘s the people around him who are largely to blame for this theatre of the absurd. Them, plus a partisan SCOTUS and a Congress full of feckless eunuchs.

The Fed must be under significant pressure to cut rates. I see Trump put out a tweet encouraging them to do so as saying, helpfully as ever, that they were usually late to do so. Trump needs lower rates as a safety valve to offset price rising as a result of his tariffs.
However, the Fed will want to guard against persistent inflation which may result from tariffs. Also the dollar is weakening which you wouldn't expect in times of crisis as investors usually treat it as a safe haven. It is a reflection that confidence has lowered in relation to the US economy's future prospects.
If the Fed start signalling QE is on the cards then we'll know they think the economy is cooked and there could be really serious consequences ahead. Time will tell I guess.

Ad nauseum.
You do realize that more than half our media leans left don't you?
It's why you need to read 4 different versions about the same event to figure out what is going on.
And don't forget social media. That's where everyone under 40 gets their news anyway..

He is a deal maker in the vein of a mafia leader, which isn't surprising considering his background.
But don't think he doesn't cook these ideas up in his head. And he is surrounded by yes people, not people giving him advice..

I don't think Powell gives two shits what Trump wants. He's going to do what he thinks is best.
I don't think QE is in the cards because inflation is probably going to start going back up.
In fact, QE may be off the table for years no matter what happens because we can't add trillion dollar chunks to the debt anymore, which is exactly what will happen if the Fed starts easy money policy again.
Fuck, we already are ahead of last year in borrowing..

Share Prices going up and down is a casino effect that has no direct bearing on the business itself.
Many people trade shares simply to make share profit like buying and selling houses.
Changes in house prices is to a large degree independent of the house itself: the same house can increase or decrease in price without any inherent change in the house itself.
A lot of the comments I read here and there are just mindless regurgitation of what people have read or heard in the media / alt-media.

🎯 Yep. I’ve always said he’s ‘mob’ from head-to-toe. He’ll brain-fart a random stream of consciousness, and then order his people to go make it happen.
