That restaurant, wherever it is, is ripping the idiots who dine there off astronomically. A 2003 Petrus sells for the ridiculous price of less than 2 grand, 2 bottles = 4 grand. They have made £16.000 profit just on 2 bottles of wine....then they add insult to injury by adding service charge.
I find it obscene. Like I find the silly amount of money they pay footballers obscene. The rich poor divide is never more apparent when you read this shite.
I know...there should be a cap on everyones wage imo..or alternatively taxation should be higher for the mega earners.
It is as you say obscene when so much wealth is shared by so few people globally.
In this case, they are separating the wealthy from their wealth.
In the US, that service fee would be a tip.
I wonder if the wait staff got that money. Not a bad night's work for one table.
IF the staff got the money that's one good thing, about the only one I can see in such decadence though.
Here, it's still actually legal for employers to keep tips meant for serving and waiting staff.
We have always tipped separately, now (due to covid) we don't have actual cash handy, we always ask before we pay by cc if the staff actually get the tips....most of our regular places they do get to keep them.

I would really like to give the person who paid for that meal a tip.
The tip of my boot up their arse!

Thing is, people can spend their own money however they like.
Obscene though it may seem to others, they can waste it any way they choose to.

Exactly.
And it's not good for you to worry too much about it.

I have no money at all.
It must be good not to worry about the future. X

Worrying about the future can spoil the present....just go with the flow.
Things usually work out.

Not really - things don't work out very often in my experience Syl.
Anyway poor Micheal Bates was spectacular in this part - what a shame very few people will ever know of the series as the BBC has banned it.
However I love this.

You can buy boxed sets of the complete series, 50odd episodes.
Obviously the moral BBC, who shielded the worst kind of paedophiles and abusers for decades, could not allow this popular, and still funny, programme to sully their schedules nowadays.

Exactly.
Banning this beautifully written Perry and Croft classic was the obvious priority over protecting Savile and others like him after all.

It's a farce that the BBC are commissioning 'The Reckoning'.
I am not against the story being told, but the fact that the BBC, the very organisation that gave him the fame which allowed him to abuse so many, is now profiting from it all....it's sickening.

The thing is there was no reckoning for Savile - he died as a beloved entertainer and would never know that people would finally discover what an evil perverted monster he really was.
For people who believe in Karma - here is a perfect example of why it does not exist.

He did die before he was publicly named and shamed that's true, but whilst he was alive, he knew that many people knew of his crimes He must have lived with the knowledge that sooner or later someone would be heard. Not everyone was involved in one of the the greatest sexual abuse cover-ups of modern times.
It will always amaze me that so many carers, like NHS nurses and medics opted to keep quiet when they knew so many young, ill and incredibly vulnerable people were suffering at his hands.
I find that unbelievable.

Did you see that recent documentary about him? He always made my skin crawl as a kid, I thought he was odd looking and creepy.
I don't think he ever thought he'd be caught. I think he thought he was too clever or too well protected.

I didn't watch it because he makes me feel sick.
He came into a casino I worked at when I was 18, put his arm round me and tried to play at a table with me at his side, I sidled away quick. His crimes were not public back then, the rumours didn't start till much later, but he was just what all young girls know instinctively...he was a pervert.
I will watch Steve Coogan's portrayal of him....though the BBC probably won't be damning themselves much in the programme.
