Share Prices going up and down is a casino effect that has no direct bearing on the business itself.
Many people trade shares simply to make share profit like buying and selling houses.
Changes in house prices is to a large degree independent of the house itself: the same house can increase or decrease in price without any inherent change in the house itself.
A lot of the comments I read here and there are just mindless regurgitation of what people have read or heard in the media / alt-media.
Trump derangement syndrome seems to be a real thing. So, far the UK seems to have been left alone regarding tariffs.

The UK got hit with the minimum, of 10 percent.
I don't disagree about TDS. He has a very direct and confrontational way of doing things. He's not diplomatic. He's an asshole at times.
But it's not new and acting like he's Hitler or some shit is just silly..
I think he's wrong about tariffs and should be more amicable with our friends while dissolving old alliances, but I also had to watch the last guy diplomatically do stupid fucking shit too..
Since we are stuck in binary system, I run everything through a lens that displays how bad the other option was too..
And in spite of what anyone thinks about Trump,.he's doing what he said he would do.

Re TDS…yep I have chronic TDS, for sure. And I make no apology for that.
A squeaky clean politician would be hard to find. They pretty much all lie a lot and get shit wrong.
But THIS guy…oh jeez, this guy takes lying, divisiveness, destructive incompetence, and corruption to stratospheric extremes. Even when I worked on transfer in New York back in the late-80’s everyone I talked politics with universally despised him.

I wish Starmer would just stick the same tariff on USA
that Trump imposed on us. The latest ludicrous threat from the President is to China. He intends to impose additional tariffs of 50% if they do not remove their 34% tariff . It makes me think he just wants chaos and frankly, war. If you impose a tariff on a country they have every right to do the same. I can't see China backing down so what next, tariffs of 100%?? The crashing economy including FTSE 100 closing down at 4.38% is something Starmer suggests we "keep a cool head over." I don't think moderating one's head temperature will benefit anyone at all and he needs to be pro active for a change. But the consequences of Trump's latest trickery will be profound for every country and that's why I think his motivation is war. It's not helping his country whatever he says. Threatening China sheds a whole new light on this.

I don't think Powell gives two shits what Trump wants. He's going to do what he thinks is best.
I don't think QE is in the cards because inflation is probably going to start going back up.
In fact, QE may be off the table for years no matter what happens because we can't add trillion dollar chunks to the debt anymore, which is exactly what will happen if the Fed starts easy money policy again.
Fuck, we already are ahead of last year in borrowing..
Yeah, I think QE would be the nuclear option but I don't think the Fed will take it off the table for years if there is a severe liquidity problem...like a sustained stock market crash...for example.
Cutting rates would be the first port of call and I can see Trump is calling out Powell again to cut rates. Good thing he can't fire him as the Fed is a good safeguard against Trump's excesses.

That's true enough. It's not like Tesla, MS or Apple have turned into crap companies over night. They still make great products so holding a basket of shares with solid American companies should pay off in the longterm. Must hurt for people coming up to retirement though but you wouldn't expect their funds to be entirely invested in stocks (unless their financial planning isn't the greatest of course.)
On somewhat of a tangent this situation exposes a significant difficulty for Trump's Tariffs as a long term prospect from reshoring. Companies will only make the the significant investment in doing so if the believe they are there for the long term. Countries negotiating tariffs are likely to string out the trade negotiations if they don't think that they will be in place for ever.
And everyone and their dog knows that mid term elections followed by another election will happen at a future point unless Trump goes full blown dictator. So we will have a period of pain while everyone strokes Trump's and MAGA's egos while secretly hoping they get demolished in the future at the ballot box.

I have a bit of TDS myself. I cannot stand the man. The vibes are off, you know.
That said it's better than Trump Devotion Syndrome. You know the type of person who was crying before the election for lower prices but now thinks it is heinous to want nice stuff and it is patriotic to suffer until El Jefe's plan comes to some glorious utopia. Huh? Read my post again, Dawg. I didn‘t socialise with the likes of the Clintons, Oprah, or Giuliani (ew!🤮). I referred to conversations I used to have with New Yorkers. And, yes, they despised him.
Or better yet, check out the countless stories of the contractors he used to stiff by refusing to pay their bills in full - or not at all. When they’d chase him up for payment, his attitude was ‘So sue me, sucker!’, knowing full well their small businesses didn’t have the cash flow to finance litigation in civil suits that could drag on for years.
If they were lucky, they’d be offered pennies on the dollar as settlement. He was notorious for forcing businesses into bankruptcy. It’s even been widely reported that a couple of contractors were driven to suicide.
