Go to 56:15 and listen to Maher talk about Trump for about 10 minutes. He and I see him much the same.
There is a third option between Trump derangement and Trump devotion syndrome..
imo, the Democrats do have a ‘Daddy’ who pulls no punches - Pennsylvania’s Governor, Josh Shapiro
I somewhat agree with BM on some of 47’s policies - reducing government waste? Sure! But…check out how they went about it. Indiscriminately ripping through essential services, like healthcare, medical/scientific research facilities, nuclear facilities, social security advice call centres, even national park services etc etc. The list is endless.
All while that freak of nature was maniacally leaping around on a stage, waving a chainsaw around, knowing that he succeeded in decimating the government agencies that were investigating him. Elon doesn’t do accountability, and neither does The Donald.
Cracking down on illegal immigrants and booting out known gang members? Absolutely! I’ve always known Biden’s laid back approach on immigration would probably be his undoing.
But…mask-wearing, cosplaying thugs, having carte blanche to leap out of vans to suddenly scoop up whoever TF they want off the streets, and then ‘disappearing’ them without any due process? Really?
I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’s not some of his policies I have a problem with. It’s the chaotically inept, Keystone Cops way they’re implementing those policies.
Which is why it's better to just oppose how and what he is doing on a case by case basis.
Where we are now, is two huge groups of lunatics screaming at each other because one opposes everything Trump does, and the other supports everything he does. All based on their personal feelings about him.
I refuse to do that.

@ MD …. he’s been a massively divisive polarising figure for the last decade.
Imo, it’s a bit naive to expect people’s personal opinions of him not to cloud their judgment.

I agree it may be a bit much to expect from many folks now..
Hence our divisive atmosphere.

His tariffs are ruining the global economy, whatever his personality traits that is the devastating result of his ego driven stunts. Many China small businesses have already gone bust and they have raised their tariffs on American goods to 84%. Trump has responded in kind in the last 5 minutes raising the chinese tariff to 125%. Economists have predicted a global recession and these tariffs are currently costing one American household five grand. Even Elon musk has had enough. @Maddog, nobody would like the "personality" Of any president causing such harm and fear to people's livelihoods and eradicating their feeling of security. Only the beginning of dementia could explain his actions in a forgiving light but I doubt that tbh.

90 day pause on tariffs except for China natch. Everyone will be kissing the ring (so to speak) thanking him profusely for returning to normality however briefly. But Trump gets bored with normality. He wants to wield his power and see people beg. The tariffs will be back.

With my serious hat back on, it can't be a coincidence that this u-turn by Trump happened so closely after what happened in the bond market.
It's what ended Liz Truss's career as Prime Minister so quickly, except she got booted due to her unfunded tax cuts for the rich spooking the market rather than tariffs. You can't mess around with an economy like this without consequences downstream.
All eyes on the Fed in the next few months.

I‘ll say it again. Dementia can often be a symptom of tertiary syphilis.
Given that he’s been a manwhore throughout his life, I wouldn’t rule it out.

@Vam I recall you saying that b4 and wasn't convinced. Now I agree its plausible because his actions are hurting his own voters and country which does nothing beneficial for him at all. He is certainly a bit dim but this tariff trade war is making him so unpopular in the polls it's like self sabotage. His obsession with tariffs does indeed come from the wise words of a fictional Harvard economist with all the credentials to impress. This fictional bloke was created by the novelist who wrote 'Death to China'.(.or something very similar) and cited as a reliable source to agree with the benefits of tariffs. Trump still kept this liar and wacko on the payroll. You could not make it up. what a farce.

I've been saying this since day one but him and Musk are pretty stupid in a lot of ways and have managed to alienate most of the world.
No one and rightly so will trust the Americans every again.

And I told you that was silly conspiracy stuff a couple of days ago.
If it were true, they would have told Trump to drive those prices down even more..
Truth is, those wealthy folks who have most of their wealth tied up in stock were getting their asses kicked and wanted no part of this "dip'..

“And I told you that was silly conspiracy stuff a couple of days ago.”
Silly. Uh-huh - ok. Let’s break down the chronology of how events unfolded. Cos again, timing is everything, right?
- 7 days ago….sweeping crippling tariffs announced, resulting in worldwide panic and mayhem.
- Up until yesterday….the narrative from the White House & 47’s TV mouth-breathers’ on news channels: Nope! There will be NO reversal of the tariffs. America has been “looted, pillaged, raped and plundered” for too long by other countries. The president is standing firm - no reversal - no siree Bob!
- Yesterday at 9.30am….trump’s (capslock) post: ‘THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!! DJT (referring to his own company, DJT, btw)
- Later that afternoon…. Tariffs ‘paused’. Followed by a bunch of America’s elite-rati gazillionaires seen gathered in the Oval Office. There is real-time video of him pointing to a few of them and saying:
“He made 2.5 billion today. And he made 900 million. That’s not bad.…..That’s Charles Schwab. It’s not just a company, it’s an actual individual! And he made 2.5 billion today”
But yeah, MD….this is all just so silly!
