To be honest, if an African Dr or consultant is fully trained and good at his job, I don't care . The vast majority of Dr's and consultants I have seen over the last few years are Asian...seldom English.
I don't care either. Do you think that the wages offered to people impact the outcome?

I think a lot of medics , both from here and abroad, train here then bugger off to use their knowledge in other countries...that impacts the outcome.

I think you're right. Whatever type of entity you're building, requires good employees and workers as they are usually attracted to good wages.
Our nurses are paid well and the standards are high, so it attracts the best and brightest.

I think it would be a good idea, that when we educate people to a high standard, they should repay the country with 3 or 4 years service.

You would still lose the best, or never get the best..
You need to pay these people like they are important, because they are..

We do have good medics, and I don't know of many poor doctors.
But I agree, many professionals, no matter what they specialise in, go where the money is.

The Tories refused to pay junior doctors a decent wage Maddog causing them to go on strike. Why? Because they worked for the NHS, and although the tories were unable to declare this openly due to public opinion, the tories want to abolish free healthcare. As do reform. Whatver right leaning government is in power it serves them well to (attempt to ) pay doctors less as immigrant doctors will work for less pay and also tolerate the existing poor conditions. When Labour got in they immediately paid the british junior doctors which shows unlike the tories they do care about keeping the NHS. Yet such vital progress received hardly any airtime from the media. The strikes were causing havoc, essential operations had to be cancelled and it was chilling that pensioners and cancer sufferers passed away waiting which was highly televised. The tories have no regard for human life yet despite labour ending the strike as soon as they could and cutting down waiting times the public despise them.

So how much do nurses make now?
I don't think you want to compare what US doctors make. It's sort of obscene..

Before the pay rise Junior Doctors were on £32.400. Nurses earned. £34.275.
It's a profession they choose to go into, nobody forces them.

No doubt. The problem seems to be who is choosing that profession?
You can make that kind of money driving for Uber around here..

British Airways:
Direct Entry Pilots can start at around £78,000 plus allowances, which can increase significantly after upgrading to Captain.
Pilots shouldn't make more than doctors..

Maybe the people who choose to go into that profession reckon it's more rewarding than driving an Uber around.

Maybe. But I think a more likely scenario is that you're getting what you pay for..
Nursing is hard work. I think people that get vomited on while trying to keep your ass alive should be paid like important people, and not just hope that shit pay attracts the best and brightest out of some sense of obligation to mankind..
I'll bet veterinarians make more than doctors in the UK..

Money isn’t everything. Knowing the pay isn’t top notch doesn’t seem to deter many from going into the UK medical profession.
Bulging salaries doesn’t equate to better medical care.

I have two friends who are nursing assistants, they used to be known as auxillaries. They are the ones who do most of the dirty work, wiping arses, feeding, cleaning up the shit and vomit. That's not to say nurses don't get vomited on, but it won't be them doing most the mundane donkey work. They earn around £19K. Half of what nurses earn.

I think going into the nursing profession or being a doctor should hinge not on earnings but on your empathy and caring nature. I've experienced wonderful nurses and doctors and hideous ones who shouldn't be in the profession.

Does a wage that demonstrates respect for the worker create better workers?
I'm not saying they should get paid like footballers and actors, but fuck me, they are kind of important..
