Sadly not...they are really suffering, but as I said, there are parts of India where it's not a problem.
On a brighter note, we have the go ahead to actually HUG people from next Monday...not random strangers obviously, but I can't wait to see my grandson and make up for lost hugs. .

Meh, I've been hugging for months. Even without chicken vindaloo.
I skipped hugging my daughter once. That was over a year ago.
I doubt I've infected anyone.
I don't even know anyone that has caught in months.

The US just authorized the use of the Pfizer shot on kids over 12.
I'm glad I don't have to make that call. I doubt the vaccine has any long term issues, but I don't know if I would vaccinate my kids for a disease that they would whip in about 2 days.

Yes, that's a tough one.
True that youngsters are very rarely ill with it, but they can infect others.
Like you I'm glad I dont have to make that decision.

My OH's ex workmate died from Covid, his funeral is on Thursday.
He was previously fit and well.

I imagine he wasn't, because I'm pretty sure there haven't been any covid deaths of vaccinated people..
Or.at least not during the studies for the vaccine. Maybe there have been some since then.

He should have had his jabs months ago. How old was he?

OH went to his funeral today.
He was mid 60's. He apparently had his first jab a few days before he became ill. Two days after his jab he visited a friend who had Covid, probably thought he was protected, obviously he wasn't. He also refused to wear a mask when mixing.
He was ill for quite a while with Covid before he needed to go into hospital, where he eventually ended up in ICU, he died after being on oxygen for 2 weeks.

Man, if he had waited another week I bet he would be alive.
He visited someone who was infected at the time?

That is really sad.
It just shows that we have not quite beaten it here yet in the UK.

I don't know why people think the vaccinations will stop you from getting it? It doesn't. It just makes it potentially less lethal but only after the second jab. I had mine yesterday. I feel like a mule has kicked my arm.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Thursday that people who are fully vaccinated do not need to wear masks or engage in social distancing while outdoors or indoors. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky explained that except in a few special circumstances, vaccinated people can resume normal life completely.
"We have all longed for this moment," said Walensky during a media briefing.
The available data made it clear, Walensky said, that the vaccines are very effective at eliminating both illness and transmission of COVID-19, and that they have thus far tackled the variants with incredible success.
"Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing," she said. "If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things you stopped doing because of the pandemic."

We haven't had that advice yet.
The infection rate for the Indian strain is doubling weekly in some parts of the country here now, so especially where that's happening, I think masks and social distancing will be carrying on for the seeable.

It shouldn't last long.
I have had the 2nd with no ill effects, got bad shakes with the first.
