I know vegans that do for health reasons and vegans that do it for the animals..
Thankfully, none of them are militant about it.
I'm currently pursuing a young vegetarian lady who owns a restaurant and serves both.
She's very pro choice when it comes to everyone else eating animals. đ
Good for her, limiting customers to only the sort food you eat yourself isn't that good for business.
I used to be veggie, I know a couple of veggies, but they dont mind cooking meat for their families.
So she hit me up for drinks last night and I brought up the subject of her vegetarianism.Â
Â
She misses meat, and doesn't do it for health reasons. She doesn't like the whole idea of factory farming. It started bothering her in her early 20s. Â
Â
We discussed my hunting and she supports that more than buying meat that has gone through factory process. Â
Â
She's the second girl I know like that. One will hunt and fish, but will not eat meat from the grocery store.

Everyone has their own reasons for eating meat or being veggie or vegan.
I stopped eating it for about 4 years, when I was younger. I just didn't like the idea of animals being killed for me to eat....plus, I have never been a big meat eater, so it wasn't much of a hardship.
The girls you know have had different reasons, and that fit's round your lifestyle, so no problem.

I don't think veganism is natural for humans.  And I think meat is essential for certain elements of a healthy diet. It's had a bad press, particularly red meat. But one of the most harmful foods we can ingest are hydrogenated oils. The health hazards are multitude if you do your research.  HO are now in most our foods.  Along with antibiotics, pesticides and hormones. It's not meat that makes us ill. It's what's being put into the food chain.

Like Syl I was veggie for a few years.  Can't say I felt any better on it.

I had vegetarian haggis once, the worst thing I've ever tasted!!
Some things just are not meant to be replicated.
Can you imagine a vegan fillet steak?
I had vegetarian sausages once Syl, even the dog wouldn't eat them!!

My friend has a pet tortoise.  He won't eat any other salad in a bag other than the Waitrose one. Now, that tells me that most bagged salad is awash with chemicals.

Â
In a motherâs womb were two babies. One asked the other: âDo you believe in life after delivery?â The other replied, âWhy, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.â âNonsenseâ said the first. âThere is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?â The second said, âI donât know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we canât understand now.â The first replied, âThat is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.â The second insisted, âWell I think there is something and maybe itâs different than it is here. Maybe we wonât need this physical cord anymore.â The first replied, âNonsense. And moreover if there is life, then why has no one has ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.â âWell, I donât know,â said the second, âbut certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.â The first replied âMother? You actually believe in Mother? Thatâs laughable. If Mother exists then where is She now?â The second said, âShe is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her this world would not and could not exist.â Said the first: âWell I donât see Her, so it is only logical that She doesnât exist.â
To which the second replied, âSometimes, when youâre in silence and you focus and you really listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.â

It's why lamb chops taste so much better than coyote chops.
If I ever encounter a cannibal, I will be sure to tell him.Â
You're an omnivore, like a bear or a pig. I'm sure a cannibal would find you tasty with a nice chianti. Â
 You say the sweetest things.Â
Bears and pigs can be cute and tasty. Â
