Well, that question is answered as to what the Department of Transportation DEI guidelines required.
That could explain why anonymous is defending the program - self interest.
Giving a disabled person the chance to earn a living and contribute to society they'd otherwise be denied is a good thing. But not of course if they're being asked to do something beyond their capabilities and that could pose a risk to others.
But the issue here is that Trump is claiming without justification that the collision was caused by someone with an intellectual or psychiatric disability being put in the ATC seat. Unless that can be shown to be true, it's just Trump talking out of his arse again.
And talking of fake news being pushed to promote a political ideology, I see Maddog is now questioning the advisability of hiring a black woman to pilot the crashed helicopter. The pilot was a white male.

The controller told the helicopter to change course as it was flying in airspace for commercial aircraft.
So the pilot of the helicopter didn't follow protocol and was too slow to correct her*error.

Best I can tell, this was the person piloting at the time.

I'm questioning (always have) the advisabiity of hiring and promoting anyone based on different sets of criteria..
I don't disagree that Trump is being a bit of an ass. I'm also quite sure other leaders we have had wouldn't have even considered how these different standards are problematic because their base supports them.
Do I wish Trump would learn how to address issues with some tact and compassion? Absolutely..
Had his opposition pulled their heads out of their asses, we wouldn't be listening to 'President' Trump..

I don't know if we will ever know..The "lead' pilot apparently was supervising the other pilot for more training. The lead pilot was a male and was obviously the one communicating with the tower. I would assume the female pilot was actually at the controls, because that's how you gain training and experience..
There's a very good chance that she was every bit as qualified as any of the male pilots. But as another female pilot stated a few years ago two different standards makes female soldiers and pilots appear to be lower qualified. That's always the problem when members of the same group aren't judged the same..

I thought Biden was the downfall of America and the World - starting a proxy war with Russia, Russia having all its dollar reserves frozen / seized - the impetus to expand BRIC and get off the dollar world trading system etc.

The rest of the world can stop visiting America and cancel their American-owned streaming services and stop buying American-owned tech products, and never switch back. Show Trump and his tech bros the error of their ways where it will hurt them most.

Time to boycott American booze... the distillers over there are already fuming with Trump just over Canada?
Those who can ditch Microsoft it's easier than you think.
America really cannot be trusted with anything now that buffoon is in the white house
when he should be in the big house!
At the moment he's attacking and threatening Greenland Panama Mexico

This has to be the saddest times for America.
I don't think they'll fully recover from this clown and I suspect this clown won't be allowed to drag America

He made Mexico blink. You may think he's abrasive and doesn't play nice.. You might be right.
Imagine a Brit PM threatening France like this over them not controlling Calais better?
I am trying to work out what is going on in the USA regarding the tariffs. With the well known phemenon of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has afflicted the reporting of everything to do with Donald Trump since he first declared his candidacy to run for President back in 2015 it is difficult to get to the facts. In the following I have taken a Time Magazine article published yesterday and cut out all the politics of potential consequence, restructured and paraphrased to focus on
a) What tariffs are being imposed
b) There intended purpose.
"During Trump first term of office (2017 to 2020) he imposed tariffs on steel, clothing, and wooden cabinets from China. This led to American producers boosting production of those things. Those tariffs remained throughout President Joe Biden’s time in office.
Second Term tariffs:Trump is following through on his 2024 campaign promise to impose tariffs on imports from Canada, China, and Mexico - U.S’ three largest supplier countries - to boost American manufacturing and end "unfair trade practices".
Trump Oct 2024: “You see these empty steel mills and falling down factories. We’re going to bring the companies back. We’re going to lower taxes for companies that are going to make their products in the USA. And we’re going to protect those companies with strong tariffs.”
Trump signed orders on Saturday evening, imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada (though Canadian energy faces a lower tariff of 10%) and 10% tariffs on goods from China. Trump signed an Executive Order titled: “Imposing Duties to Address the Flow of Illicit Drugs Across Our Northern Border.”
These are “ad valorem tariff” = a tax on imported goods calculated as a percentage of the product’s value.
Tariffs are paid by domestic importers to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Trump discussed the tariffs in a series of recent statements on his social media platform, Truth Social and from the Oval Office:
a) to protect Americans against the the flow of undocumented immigrants and deadly drugs (including fentanyl) into the United States. “China makes the fentanyl which gets into the U.S. mainly through Mexico but also through Canada, so these tariffs are an attempt to get these countries to stop that."
b) The USA has major deficits with Canada, Mexico, and China (and almost all countries!), owes 36 Trillion Dollars, and we’re not going to be the ‘Stupid Country’ any longer” .... this will be the “golden age of America” ... there may be “some pain” felt due to the tariffs but it “will all be worth the price that must be paid.”
c) “We pay hundreds of Billions of Dollars to SUBSIDIZE Canada Why? There is no reason. We don’t need anything they have.”
d) If businesses make their product in the U.S., they won’t have to deal with the added charges."
My comment:
a) Trump imposed tariffs on China during his first term (2017-2020) and these were kept during Joe Bidens term of office (2021-2024).
b) The current tariffs are an election promise Trump made during the 2024 Presidential Campaign.
c) It is a bit confusing how many executive orders were made and exactly what there purposes are. Three things have been mentioned:
c1) to address trade imbalances between the US and its three main supplier countries.
c2) to get China, Mexico and Canada to reduce or stop the flow of "deadly drugs" into the US.
c3) to get Mexico and Canada to control their borders with the US to prevent undocumented migrants entering the US.
d) It is not really clear what China, Mexico and Canada are supposed to do with these tariffs. They could do something regarding tightening borders and helping reduce the illicit trade of drugs such as fentanyl into the US but these tariffs are also being imposed as a protectionist move to boost US manufacturing.

I saw something today that the female pilot was actually working at the Whitehouse for the last two years and suddenly she's flying a helicopter at night?
I notice that the libs are screaming that the price of eggs haven't dropped yet. But no one is mentioning the fact that Biden had 100,000,000 chickens destroyed before he left office.

Now Trudeau has blinked..
If cutting this crap makes us enemies, I say let's go..
He had agreed that with the previous president back in December.
Making new commitments.............
Signed a new intelligence directive..........
So Trudeau is doing a little more than he promised Biden in exchange for a 30 day reprieve.
I imagine this will be readsressed in a few weeks..
Securing the border is important to the American people. He's working that angle hard.
TBH, I don't think Canada is really much of a problem, but Donald likes the drama and chaos..
