When I had been going out with my now husband then boyfriend for a few weeks, we went to Newquay for a few days, just getting to know each other better. We were looking in a jewellery shop window, another man was also looking at the items. My then boyfriend wandered off, so it was just me and the other man. I suddenly smelt the foulest pong. I thought what a pig, he had stood right next to me and obviously silently farted...I caught OH up, told him, he was as disgusted as I was.
Years later, we were playing one of those daft truth/dare games.... he started laughing and said....remember that time we went to Newquay? turns out it wasn't the other bloke ....
Not a fart story but still funny, at least I thought so.
I went to a wedding evening do of a boyfriend's and when he went to the bar, I got left alone with a couple of his work mates. Nice enough blokes. I was eating a piece of wedding cake and it as a tad crumbly so a sizable chunk fell into my decolletage (I was a 34DD and my top was a little low). Not thinking I just picked it up and was about to eat it when I happened to glance up. I've never seen two men whip their heads in perfect unison in the opposite direction as fast as they did. It's a wonder they didn't crick their necks. They had this kind of horrified expression that I'd caught them staring. I just burst out laughing and they relaxed and we had a good chortle over it. I was like....."Your faces!"

I don't think in general these people, men as well as women, are mentally ill either. I do think they fool themselves that they are still alluring enough to entice good looking young guns online....and that's their downfall.
I have known a couple of women, middle aged and older, ordinary looking women like the one in the OP, who are convinced young waiters are ogling them, and believe me....they are not. Growing older does not always make for growing wiser.
The thing about aging is that all of us struggle with it, particularly women who are suddenly deemed invisible sexually or otherwise when they reach a certain age. There's a kind of transition period where you have to realise that you're losing your looks/figure or whatever and you're never going to get the genuine attention you got when you were at your most nubile. Most of us are wise enough to know fake flattery when we receive it. But when the flirtation takes place on line, it's too easy to forget who you are and what you actually look like and your age etc. You can get sucked in to feeling and acting like a 20 year old because most of us who are older don't actually feel our physical age in our heads. I know I don't.
But...I've never been one to enjoy flattery. And I can spot fake flattery a mile off. But if you can't, and you get lost in that moment in that situation and in that fantasy, the result is silly old cows losing money.
I have never struggled with getting older and not having men gawp....I always hated it when I was younger, and that is the truth.
So did I as when girls are younger men sense they feel more vulnerable and their behaviour goes beyond looking. I was scared of male attention in my early teens. When I was 14 a Pakistani man approached me in the street and asked me to get a coffee. I didn't even drink coffee at that age but said yes as I was flustered. I live in a small coastal town which was practically all white back then and this behaviour was NOT the done thing. He asked to take me clubbing, insisting it was not a "school night" so he knew my age. I left my coffee untouched and said I must leave after half an hour of him badgering. He knew I was uncomfortable.
An elderly man also flashed at me when I was 16,walking alone. When I was with friends we would giggle about the whistles and comments but looking back we were in school uniform and these men were not young. I can't pretend I will enjoy becoming invisible as I age but that's because I take it as a compliment. When girls are younger male attention seems more insidious. It's all about control.
I think on the surface, mens behaviour towards females has improved.
Most women of a certain age remember being flashed at...(three times in my case, once when I was a kid of around 10) being groped, (I slapped a couple of mens faces hard, thankfully none retaliated, I think in today's world they might) cat calling and wolf whistling was part and parcel of life. I remember the last dance in many dance halls when I was a teenager, too polite to refuse, unfortunately they were not polite enough to stop their erection prodding into my groin.....nightmare times when I think back....oh, and there was no such thing as men raping their wives, it was their right.
My son and grandsons would be appalled at behaviour like that now, when my son was a student he worked on a building site...cat calling after women could be a sacking offence, so it didn't happen.
So how come now there is so much misogyny about, I had never heard of the word incel till fairly recently, and rape increases are soaring.
Are the type of men who openly casually abused women in the past, now the men who seethe inwardly, and their hatred or fear of women is being displayed more insidiously, as you said?
Number of rape offences in England and Wales 2002-2024
Rape offences have increased dramatically in England and Wales since 2012/13 when there were 16,038 offences. After this year, rape offences increased substantially, reaching a high of 69,973 offences in the 2021/22 reporting year, before falling slightly to 68,949 in 2022/23, and to 67,928 in 2023/24. When 2023/24 is compared with the 2002/03 reporting year, there was an almost sixfold increase in the number of rape offences recorded by the police in England and Wales.
I'm absolutely shocked there was no rape law pertaining to marriage! I would like to know what decade when this was if you wouldn't mind telling me.
Rape cases are increasing due to the Manosphere content and the rebellion against women choosing to be single. Men feel they are entitled to a relationship or sex at the very least and they want to teach 'single independent ' women a lesson. Men actively tell each other not to help a woman they see being harassed on the tube, street etc.
I saw a discussion underneath a YouTube video where all the men commenting said they wouldn't even call the police if they saw a woman being threatened by a gang of males. Date Rape occurs when the man chooses to no longer disguise his hostility and intent Many men do not like women, they find them.boring. That's why they do not see the need for AI sex dolls(that they hope will replace women) to be able to talk..
Obviously not all men are like this. Most of us here on the forum have husbands or long term partners and know not all men are misogynistic and would never hurt women or use misogynistic rhetoric.
But the frightening rape statistics are due to the new trend of men openly abusing women online, they feel emboldened by knowing so many men agree with them and see women as objects only to be used. I think the Government should apply legislation to the Manosphere content which is poisoning the minds of so many teenagers and young men but I'm not sure how they could legislate it.

Rape increases are mostly down to changing definitions of the crime, higher reporting rates and the importation of more rapists.
The UK grooming gangs were not a result of the manosphere.

"The UK has seen recent changes in rape and sexual offense laws, focusing on improving support for victims and clarifying consent in cases involving deception or failure to disclose. Key changes include increased protections for victims' counseling notes, a right to have cases reviewed by a different prosecutor, and updated guidance on deception as to sex and consent."
Perhaps I should have said there has been changes in legislation in regards to rape that will increase the number of offenses and/or prosecutions..

OK...changes in how reported rape is dealt with, but the act of rape has always been defined as penetration by penis.

I don't think it requires a penis, and I'm not even sure the word rape is used in many cases. Here in the states it's usually called sexual assault which covers far more things than penetration by a penis..

I didn't say they were. The Elliot Rogers murders (called the "Perfect Gentleman "by incels)were a direct result of the Manosphere. So were other killings by incels, one in England caused the death of a child.
The negative offensive attitude to women is the result of the Manosphere, and one of the prominent beliefs is that men are entitled to sex from women. Or "voids" as women are called on.Incel chat rooms because these men.believe women have no heart or genuine personality. All because they have been turned down for a few dates.

Back in 2016 the govt started a programme of inspections of UK police forces which showed that many reported offences went unrecorded including reports of rape.
This prompted the police to tighten up on crime recording, which increased the numbers recorded.
When it comes to rape there are a number of grey areas especially around consent, which over recent time have been clarified, and means more rapes recorded, such as:
Victim was very drunk - even if she* didn't say no, she lacked the capacity to give consent
Victim was asleep when first penetrated - as above
Victim did not want to engage in sex but felt she couldn't say no through fear of repercussions
Victim was trafficked as a prostitute for sex - new laws on modern day slavery means that each 'customer encounter' should be recorded as rape, even if the 'customer' was unaware of trafficking

Many people, although I appreciate not everyone, will find humour in that story due to the Python-esque absurdity of it. The pics of Brad by themselves are very funny - and that a seemingly intelligent woman has been conned out of 700k by thinking he was her boyfriend, is funnier still. I realise we live in woke times and that laughing at other people's misfortunes is now frowned up, but somethimes other people's misfortunes provide the best source for humour, as is the case here.
Claiming you know what a 'natural reaction' should be to such a story is condescending claptrap, as is your banging on about predatory behaviour, when you have been guilty of it yourself in the past. It doesn't matter if it was 10 years ago or 10 minutes ago, you still did it and is is part of who you are, and hardly puts you in a position of strength when it comes to making preachy posts trying to take the moral high ground.
I've got nothing against sex workers btw - just the hypocritical ones.
Ok, I confess I told my Mum about falling out over the Brad story with someone on a forum (didn't mention names of forum or anybody or your off topic reaction,) and when I said "So a woman thought she was going out with Brad Pitt in hospital" she burst out laughing! I explained I had been a bit harsh with someone for laughing as I felt sorry for the lady losing all that money. When she FINALLY stopped laughing (thanks Mum!)she did agree that she felt very sorry for the woman and the con man was scum. But as you eluded to the idea is just so absurd obviously folk find it funny. So.I apologise for what was a harsh post to you. I think our differing political opinions made me biased.
I would ideally like to move on and be able to reply to you instead of ignoring which seems kind of daft since I don't know you. But I have never acted in a predatory manner or conned anyone so therefore you suggesting I have isn't accurate. Most men watch porn of all kinds, I don't understand how they are victims being conned. If you can explain why you think that in a civil way, I would have no problem discussing it. I enjoy debating everything. If men are informed of the cost of downloading a video and like any consumer they pay it, again I don't see the predatory angle.
Also on Digital Spy when people doubted my pro pic was me I did a video verification(which can still be found with a Google search) and another video for a chap called Vassago. So I'm asking politely if you could refrain from saying I could be a predatory man conning people as it's simply not true. It's akin to me pretending you're really a female landlord ripping off tenants.
This was all a long time ago and I don't see the relevance of it today. I apologise if you think I'm condescending, maybe that's something I need to work on. But I have just as much right to an opinion on topics as anyone else, I haven't hurt anyone (except possibly myself). Victim was trafficked as a prostitute for sex - new laws on modern day slavery means that each 'customer encounter' should be recorded as rape, even if the 'customer' was unaware of trafficking

In our insane society yes, a woman can have a penis
Ok, I confess I told my Mum about falling out over the Brad story with someone on a forum (didn't mention names of forum or anybody or your off topic reaction,) and when I said "So a woman thought she was going out with Brad Pitt in hospital" she burst out laughing! I explained I had been a bit harsh with someone for laughing as I felt sorry for the lady losing all that money. When she FINALLY stopped laughing
(thanks Mum!)she did agree that she felt very sorry for the woman and the con man was scum.
If you would rather we don't talk that's fine too, just wanted to apologise for my initial over reaction and explain my confusion to some of your reply.
