I am taking advantage of staying in (because I have he worst cold ever) so I have written out ALL my Christmas cards to neighbours friends and family....not the handmade ones but the bought ones....so I am very happy with myself.
I love buying cards for people, I obviously love making them, but I bloody hate writing them all out.
Same, my hand aches from writing cards. We not doing too many this yr, so many don't do them or want them anymore.
I still like the tradition of cards though.

Hope you kick that bug’s ass soon, Syl
It‘s Christmas crazy time again (for me anyway - I’m organising a very big do for 22 people )
So here’s something to get us in the mood, and I know will make you smile 😉

Seeing Elton through the years, which was lovely. This is one of his latest performances, he is like everyones favourite elderly uncle at the party.

If I remember rightly, it was his much-loved Mum and his Auntie who both doted on him when he was a kid, and they were the ones who gave him his first piano.
And the rest is history….

We can include Christmas songs on here if you like.
Very sensibly, my local radio station refuses to play Christmas songs till 1st December, and I only listen in the morning for an hour or two.
So far I haven't heard this one played yet It's a Christmas classic, and it keeps the memory of the lovely Kirsty MacColl's talent alive.

Hate the way the woke cut out the word faggot for God's sake, nothing wrong with that word over here.

I know, people used different terminology that was accepted back then, it's rewriting history changing lyrics and words in songs and books.
I think I remember reading Elvis Costello had rewritten some of his old lyrics in his old songs because they were now considered no longer PC.

I know he stopped playing Oliver's Army because of the 'white Purr' line, I didn't realise he had rewritten other lyrics though. I don't believe in rewriting history, but a lot of old songs would be quite controversial today. Maybe EC rewrote because he wanted more royalties coming in? Or maybe he had a wokeover and no longer liked his original lyrics?
The Welsh Rugby Union banned choirs from singing Delilah by Tom Jones, because it's essentially a song about a man stabbing his 'woman' to death after she sleeps with another man. The Welsh crowd still sing it though!
Bob Geldof regretted writing I don't Like Mondays because it glamorised a real school shooting and made the killer even more famous.
Then there's all the songs about romancing teenage girls that would be frowned upon today - The Beatles 'she was just 17 if you know what I mean' - Chuck Berry singing about a 16 year old wearing 'tight dresses, lipstick and high heels' wouldn't go down too well either. Abba's Does Your Mother Know? 'Girl, you're only a child' etc
These were all written in good faith and were acceptable at the time - If they are deemed too controversial by today's standards, then I think it best just not to play them rather than rewrite them

It must be one of those words that's automatically changed on here.

Nope...I dont feel ill really , just a horrendous snotty cold and sore throat.
We are away for a few day on Friday, I am keeping fingers crossed it doesn't get worse....I doubt I will be doing any swimming or anything else that entails using much energy.
