In Bolton the uptake of the virus has been one of the lowest in the country, the spread of the virus is now the highest in the country....so it would make sense to vaccinate whoever is willing to have it...regardless of age.
The best way of stopping Hospitalizations and deaths rising is what it appears the experts and then after that the Government continue to favour.
They did consider vaccinating younger people faster idea. It was put out there. As you would of heard. But the JCVIs conclusion was on balance it's still best to carry on going down the ages in order.
Well they are now vaccinating 18's and over without appointments in some special centres in Greater Manchester.....maybe they read here.
"Clearly what's been happening in Bolton, and the variants of concern, and the rapid increase in cases is something we legitimately need to be worried about," he said.

Reading here.. Lol Hmm who knows. I just read the above. From a few hours ago. The guidance allows flexibility I didn't know that part. Maybe it's a change. Don't know.
Anyway as long as no one older misses out. I see no problem with it. As long it doesn't change the speed of the overall vaccine programe. As long as there's enough to go around.

Of course employees and visitors can still wear one, you just can't be forced to wear one.
I think quite soon mask wearing should be left up to people's personal Judgement instead of being mandatory in certain circumstances. Once you approach 80% first doses 60% second something around that.
I actually think many will carry on wearing them for now at least in some circumstances anyway one reason being because we are now kinda used to it.
A few days ago secondary schools were told that the pupils don't have to wear them anymore here.
Yeah, I still see a lot of masks in places where you don't need them.
Because of our political issues, the mask has become a bit of symbol for our politics. So folks on the leftish, are still wearing them like a "ribbon".
Even though the CDC has stated they are no longer necessary.
It's actually really funny. The left doesn't want other people to think they are right-wing or anti=vax so won't take off their masks.

It's still mandatory in many indoor places to wear a mask in the UK.
It has nothing to do with which political party you support.

Immune to dying from it.
Obviously you can still catch COVID after two jabs but the chances of getting seriously ill are virtually zero.

The chances of catching it and spreading it are diminished somewhat with the jab....and as you say, the chances of dying are greatly reduced, and that's always a bonus.

Oh, I know.
But over here it was far more political.
I saw a shirt for sale that said "fully vaccinated, not a republican".

I would say, wherever we go, around 40% of people are not wearing them here....that's not a recent thing either, the number has always been pretty high. I have not seen one shopkeeper or doorman stop anyone from entering any retail outlet ...even though there are posters everywhere telling people that it's now mandatory to wear a face covering.
Most are either stupid or just plain selfish, I imagine it's a very small number who are medically exempt.

Rochdale is the latest place in Greater Manchester to encourage ALL over 18's to turn up at on the extra walk in centres to get the jab.
I think it may depend on how many vaccines any particular area has. When the government announced a few days ago they would be following the guidance by vaccinating according to age....which is now down to mid 30's I think, they didn't take account of the alarming rise in some areas of the country (the North) and also they didn't want to put preference on the younger people at the expense of the older ones.
Thankfully the under 18's and the mid 30's are still getting the jabs here if they want it.

It was taken into account. It was put out there to be debated. They asked the JCVI to look at it. I heard it in a press conference as well.
Hence my earlier post.

Yes I saw what you posted JD, there is obviously no definite line, different areas are dealing with the vaccination rollout to suit their own area, and that could obviously depend on how many vaccines they have.
I did think it was a bit confusing a few days ago when the infection rates were increasing rapidly in Bolton especially, I think it was Deputy chief medical officer Vam-Tam, that said live on TV that they would not be allowing 18's and aver the jab yet UNLESS they were vulnerable.
The next morning places like Bolton and Bradford, and since then several other areas, especially in Greater Manchester, have been broadcasting locally that ALL 18 's and over can show up without appointments to the walk in or drive in centres and they will receive the vaccine.

Confusion. Or just process taking place before our very eyes and ears. In my view the pandemic has been quite annoying in that regard. Too many experts piping up and chipping in on the news etc Media spouting out stuff before it's officially announced. They aren't always right either. I know it's what media tends to do. But you have to think about what the circumstances actually are. Too many voices isn't good that can confuse people alone.

Across England people aged in their mid-30s and over are currently eligible for vaccines. Younger people are only eligible if they have underlying health conditions or other exemptions.
