I am just watching it on the news...absolutely horrendous, and only yesterday on here we were talking about the hatred that has been building in this country from some, towards Jewish people. The latest, from Andy Burnham, police are treating this as a potential terror attack, people are advised to stay clear of the area, but the immediate danger to the public is over.
There are videos on Twitter, too graphic to be shown here, but a member of the public, or possibly a security guard from the synagogue, appears to be lifeless on the pavement.
The perpetrator looks like he has been shot dead, and there are so far unconfirmed reports that he also had a bomb.

Syl, when police say that girls are abused by people "known to them" that usually means it is a member of the family or friend of the family, or indeed a friend. What it means is the majority of girls are not sexually abused by people they don't know who try to groom them. The policewoman was worried people were losing sight of the truth due to the outrage of the cover up of the recently convinced grooming gang and the awful case you mentioned concerning the 14 year old. I.do I understand why tensions are running high.
Regarding the BIB Thankyou for admitting that there are far more white sexual abusers. This is proven fact.
As the report says not all ethnicities are accounted for and I'm sure there are far more Asian men who have committed crimes related to sexual abuse but these could be cases within the home. Muslim girls experiencing sexual abuse from someone known to them, especially a family member, would be terrified of reporting due to the way women and girls are regarded in more stringent religious households. I think there lies a lot of unreported cases in this regard.
But.. as 85% of suspects are white males I still think more white men on the whole SA minors. Also it follows logically there would be more cases of SA where the perpetrator is white that are not reported.
With respect, I don't understand the desire to try and demonise men of colour only. It is an abhorrent crime and children need to be safer. I feel more funding needs to be given to social services so more people can be employed to have the time and motivation to look at potential cases of SA within the home and grooming gangs. The colour of the skin of the predator matters far less than stopping the evil men who ruin girls and young women's lives.
Of course due to the austerity measures under Tory rule all funding for such services were cut whilst Tory peers and politicians became richer. I wonder how that happened. 😡
I don't know where the Labour government can find more funding to help protect children in vulnerable family situations or who are in care because she to 14 years of Tory neglect the money simply isn't there, hence why these crimes are being committed so often to so many innocent girls.

I'm sure statistically there are more white child abusers than any other colour in the UK...but as the population is still made up of more than 81% whites...it's a poor argument to keep quoting the % of abusers....that are false in the first place.

Sexual abuse and domestic abuse are two different categories.
The grooming gangs are not classed as domestic abusers, it's all about power, hatred, and sexual gratification. And yes, the vast majority of female victims do know their perpetrators. The grooming gangs got to know their victims, this historic case based in Rochdale is typical of how they did, and still do, operate.

A loud explosion has been heard from the scene, bomb disposal have been in site since earlier in the day.
Local radio have been on the scene since this happened. The area where this happened is very mixed. It's not just a Jewish area, people of all faiths live there. The Jewish community are talking about how they have dreaded something like this happening, but they say the actual area is a peaceful one. People get on with their neighbours, and no acts of terror will change that.

I’ve seen the alleged suspect‘s pic but have deliberately avoided anything else, pic/video related, as I don’t want them in my head…Ariel and Kfir Bibas (Oct 7th) still haunt me, I actually shed tears over them and still feel anger over their brutal murders.
It is horrendous. It’s one thing losing loved ones in an accident but to lose them in such a brutal way is unimaginable.
When a horrific event like this happens, there will always be a bystander recording the events as they happen.
Main news channels don't show all the details, bystanders don't have the same ethics.
For a loved one to see their dad, son, brother, friend, lying dead on the pavement after such a brutal attack, the poor man was alone, not even covered, whilst people walked past his body, scarcely giving it a second glance....how must his family feel when they see that.
