I said on another forum years ago "I hate midges" and the reply was "they can't help being small, that's a terrible thing to say"
He thought I had said MIDGETS!!

I get bitten enough here...oddly more than I do when on the continent, that's one of the reasons I have never been to Scotland.
My next door neighbours have just moved there....somewhere really far out too. They don't know a soul, have left all their family behind, and the husband is quite ill....but it's been their dream, so they have taken it and emigrated.'

The one's with the cat?
They'll love it here, it is a beautiful country.
Crail is my favourite part of Scotland, very quiet but really nice and lots of happy memories from there.
Walks down the harbour each morning with my dad, my mum liked a long lie.

Yes, Mini, the cat....I still expect her to come tapping on the back door, I really miss her.
They found a house up in the Cairngormes, it looks beautiful.

The home of Britain's only free-ranging reindeer herd. It's very nice there but very cold.
They hire them out each year to lead Santa's sleigh and raise funds to keep the centre open.
They'll like it there Syl, shame about Mini all the same, you get very attached to animals.

I've got photos of me with the reindeer, I must find them. Very bristly coats. The reindeer not me.

She pined for a bit, for us, for her garden, and her neighbourhood, but apparently she has settled in now....so all is good.
The people they bought the house off said they often see deer roaming about, and more worryingly, a wild cat has been seen locally.
Hopefully Mini stays out of it's way...she is quite old now.

There was a Puma seen there years ago, it was captured but it might be another one.
Very friendly reindeer, they let you pat them.
I saw some at Ayr Farm Park as well, they were selling goats.
£50 and take one away today they said, as much as I love animals, I draw the line at a pet goat.

I had a mate who bought a goat once.
His idea was (he was a bit eccentric) it would eat the grass and save him mowing his huge lawn.
It ate all the flowers instead.

My dad build rabbit hutches years ago, smashing they were and added an extension and turf as a finishing touch.
They looked great but rabbits ate all the grass, there wasn't a blade of it left after a few days!!

Rabbits are lovely though.
My grandson has a pet one, sadly it died. He solemnly packed it in a lovely box with a heartfelt message, and insisted on taking it to his other grans to be buried.
Getting in the car he dropped the box (he was always clumsy) and the little stiff body fell out and rolled down the drive.
It was a sad moment.

My cousin went to scatter his wives ashes down at the seafront at Ayr.
His children were there, just sixteen and seventeen.
She had died suddenly of a brain haemorrhage, they were all ready and had some each and threw them towards the sea when a strong wind threw them all back.
They were just standing there with them all over their clothes and a "What the hell do we do now" situation.

Aww, moments like that can either be funny...or the opposite.
We buried my mums ashes under a beautiful rhodedendron in the garden.
I asked my grandson if he wanted to spoon some of her ashes in the hole we had made, he just looked at me and said "is this normal?"....it made us laugh.
I said on another forum years ago "I hate midges" and the reply was "they can't help being small, that's a terrible thing to say"
