The vaccinated are not just as much at risk as the unvaccinated. Millions more would have died or been seriously ill without the vaccination programme.
It is disappointing that after 6 months the vaccination gradually loses effect (still offers more protection than not being vaccinated though) but as booster jabs will be offered I don't really see a problem.
I am hoping it will be given alongside the yearly flu jab.....and why would anyone refuse the booster if they had the sense to have the first 2 jabs?
A tiny proportion of people have felt 'very unwell for a week or two with both jabs', most feel no ill effects, some get chills or feel unwell for 12 to 24 hours, a small price to pay for either not getting Covid and needing hospital care or dying....or even worse, killing someone else because you were too selfish to have the jab when it was offered.
Very well said.
People who believe any old conspiracy shit and refuse the vaccine infuriate me.
They don't deserve to work in a care home if they are going to infect and kill the elderly and vulnerable with COVID.

It's possible care home staff are in short supply because the pay is crap and the work is hard. Maybe if greedy care home owners....who charge the earth, often for substandard care, were to pick better people to care, train them and pay them accordingly, they wouldn't be in this dilemma.
I know if my mum was still alive, I would rather care for her myself 24/7 than have some selfish bastard care for her. One who refuses the jab now, but will probably be rolling their sleeve up pretty damn quick if vaccination is needed for their next foreign holiday.

Depends Syl, if they are just selfish they will for a holiday or they are an anti-vaxxer they won't, so many of whom have died of the virus through willful stupidity especially in the Bible Belt/MAGA supporters (not that wilful stupidity is exactly rare there).

I know a couple of people who bang the anti-vaxxer drum, yet they have had their kids vaccinated against all the usual illnesses....
And yes, I do believe if not being vaccinated encroaches on their holidays abroad....they will soon change their minds.

There were 207 deaths here yesterday, the highest since early March, I really hope those who refuse to get vaccinated will change their minds.

There were 263 deaths here yesterday - but apparently most people think this is a trifling matter now.
Everyone would have been horrified at these figures at the start of the pandemic - we are an island so we should not have by far the highest fatality figures in Europe, almost 140,000 now.
It's a mixture of government incompetence, anti-vaxx morons and general public apathy with social distancing and masks etc.

Many people seem to have a very short attention span and are also increasingly selfish these days.
I will still wear a mask in shops and on public transport even if most others don't.

A huge 292 deaths in UK yesterday - imagine what the figure would be without vaccination!
People longer give a toss.

290?
This is the new reality.
That number does seem high though.

I just checked, Texas had a 105 here yesterday.
Doesn't seem to be affecting how we operate any more.

These are grim figures.
What a fucking awful year 2021 really is.
Misery, poverty and death everywhere.

But had this news happened at the beginning of the Pandemic everyone would have been horrified.
It's just one of those things that people get used to.
